right in front of that poor yeoman's salad, too
just finished schism, I hope they melt Logan’s smelly hypocritical ass into a straight up ingot in the next project I have the displeasure of seeing him in, what an absolute chode, smelliest most childish chud of all time
it would take Wolverine of all characters to make Charles Xavier look nuanced and knowledgeable
hehe I made Thundercats :P
my final for my animation class this week lol
dw will be cleaning up and coloring, had to do scribble character sheets for these designs in like a week and a half
I hc that Scott has weirdly shaped pupils, maybe even star shaped or pointed- he has the most magical girl eyes to have ever eyed
my absolute headass dc take is that Zack Snyder’s LOGO for Superman, the shield, I feel I need to reiterate, NOT HENRY CAVILL’S SUPERMAN BUT JUST THE SHIELD, is my favorite for the idea of it being a “Kryptonian symbol that looks sorta like an S”- if it didn’t have that fuckass texture to the whole suit and had brighter colors, it’d probably be my favorite Superman logo. I hate the suit, movie and universe associated w it though :(
what’s your guys’ favorite Superman logo?
oh?? my god???
i for one hate the notion that Pattinson cannot be the DCU’s Batman because of “tonal differences” like- huh????? Isn’t that what makes DC so fun? What I’ve loved, reading early DC for the first time is that compared to Marvel, each hero and their world feel distinctly unique from one another. This even comes down to how they were marketed- Detective Comics felt more noir-y…..more detective-y while Action Comics was loud and boisterous. Rather than taking place in the same city, frequently New York for Marvel, each character in DC lives in their own isolated cities (of course I’m mainly referring to the Trinity, but this does also apply to like Central City, Star City, etc….) I feel that what makes things like the JL feel so much more special IS that clash of seeing Batman next to a fucking Green Lantern and still holding his own….he’s the world’s greatest detective. Does he still deal with crazy ass villains sometimes? Yeah. Are their threats significantly less dangerous than villains who could atomize and extract entire cities into their massive ships? Also yes. Batman being there, as he is, makes it feel different. Wonder Woman being there, as she is, makes it feel different. Pattinson and Corenswet WOULD feel different. Batman and Superman ARE from different worlds. That’s what makes them so fun!
“It’s too realistic, you’d have to retcon-“
no you wouldn’t.
Is Reeves’ universe more realistic? Sure. Is his Batman also incredibly early in his career? Also yes.
I just reread The Long Halloween, and there’s a lot of similarities to The Batman narratively. A core theme that isn’t present in the movie however is the shift away from the mafia crime we see in Year One to costumed villains everywhere. Batman adapts. As Pattinson gains experience, you could have him gain more fantastical gadgets, improve in combat, generally make him more able to fit alongside Superman in a Justice League movie!
That being said….I’m not the biggest Pattinson in the DCU fan for one simple reason: I don’t think he’s super willing to be Batman for an extended period of time.
I also really really really like Nate Mann as Batman. Like a lot. I was sold when I saw that one TikTok where if you pitch his voice down ever so slightly he sounds like Conroy with his NORMAL SPEAKING VOICE. He also looks sorta like Corenswet and is around his age. I like it more, but in my heart of hearts, it’s either Pattinson or Mann, or I’ll be disappointed. You could make either work.
Give me Dick in either The Batman 2 or retool Brave and the Bold. I do not want to see Damian this early, as someone who loves Damian.
to anyone who read this far, thank you, I’d love to hear your thoughts, I hope you’re having a great day, and I’m sorry this was so long.
I appreciate this take and I agree on the argument that the tonal difference being the thing that prevents Battinson from joining DCU holds no ground because the DC “worlds” in comics/animations have always been tonally tailored to their respective heroes. This aspect makes DC more special than Marvel imo. Erasing that characteristic for the sake of the singular-universe-sameness is a lame approach, something that Hollywood studios have done many times because their executives don’t (and are unwilling to) have an understanding of the media they’re dealing with.
As for the ongoing DCU Batman debate, I’m standing firmly with Battinson. He’s the current Batman. He’s the face of live action Batman in this era. No more fancast. I don’t accept alternative options. He’s the DCU Batman.
I understand that some people want different Batman but logically I don’t see any use of seeing two live action Batmen which seemingly only exist to entertain the “grounded vs fantastical” crowd. It may make sense for die-hard fans who follow the DC news 24/7. I’m not so sure if that’s the case with the general audience. The idea is confusing and unnecessary to me.
Right. I also firmly believe that bringing Battinson into the DCU is much easier than creating yet another live action Batman, yet another live action Gotham, from scratch. Why? Because The Batman (2022) and Superman (2025) are thematically similar even though they have different tones. Fundamentally, Bruce and Clark deal and/or are burdened with the legacy of their family in the movies. The Wayne and the El play a pivotal role in shaping their Batman and Superman persona. Those seeds can grow into something when they meet.
As for Robin, the right way is to start with Dick Grayson. Rushing to get the Bat family all appearing together would result in a catastrophic event like BvS: Dawn of Justice. Too many characters, too little time to spend with them, the audience won’t be emotionally invested in their stories, and that will be the fastest way to end this barely existing cinematic universe.
One more thing. I just chuckle every time anyone says “but James Gunn said multiple times it’s not happening” or “let Matt Reeves realize his Batman vision uninterrupted”. With all due respect, you’re not their spokesperson. Try to have an argument based on the things you take from the movies. Go enjoy those movies and leave the whole movie production business to them.
Ending this rant with peace. I’m gonna watch The Batman (2022) and Superman (2025) religiously now that Superman is available on digital ✌🏼
Wholeheartedly agree. The Batman (2022) is my favorite movie, and Pattinson is BY FAR my favorite Batman we’ve gotten in film- I’d love to see them on screen together, the only reason I’d said it may not work out is Pattinson’s schedule, notoriety and willingness to commit to being Batman for a long period of time. In the event he’s not available, I’d love Nate Mann instead, but those are my two picks. If not Pattinson, Mann- fully agree about it being harder to introduce a new Batman….i loved the Gotham we got in Reeves’ movie. It had so much character. Here’s to hoping it’s Pattinson (or if not him, imo Mann). Tysm for replying!!!
