This fairy tale set features my haute couture gowns and headpieces. The gowns are made of the finest Italian silks and embroidered tulle, all completely hand made in our San Francisco Atelier, with our experienced staff of “le petite mains” creating the beaded and appliqué details. The headpieces are constructed of pressed leather flowers and leaves embedded with real gemstones and freshwater pearls.

Holiday Blending Workshop

Saturday Dec. 7th & Sunday Dec. 8th

Fitzgerald and Guislain returns to Atelier Des Modistes on December 7 and 8 for another weekend of blending workshops. On Saturday we will be holding our popular intro to blending workshop, followed on Sunday by our seasonally appropriate intermediate blending workshop: “Amber Perfumes". The intermediate workshop builds on the material covered in the introductory class, focusing on the blending theory behind classic amber perfumes. We will cover techniques from vintage amber masters such as Ernest Daltroff as well as modern interpretations of the genre. During the workshop, students will create an extrait strength amber perfume to take home. Our "Intro to Botanical Perfume Blending" class will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 11:00 a.m. The “Intermediate Botanical Blending: Amber Perfumes” class will be held on Sunday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m.

Note: our intermediate blending class is intended for students who have already taken our introductory blending workshop and builds on techniques covered in the intro level class. If you have not yet taken an introductory class but wish to attend the amber workshop, we recommend signing up for both the Saturday and Sunday classes.

Both workshops will be held at Atelier Des Modistes in San Francisco. Each class will run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm with a 15 minute break. Refreshments and pastries will be provided for students during the break. The class fee for each class is $150.00 per person. You can reserve your place through Atelier Des Modistes here.

We are excited to announce a new workshop by Fitzgerald & Guislain, a natural perfume house combining historical techniques and the finest modern essences. Come learn about the wonderful world of Victorian natural perfumery  and create your own unique fragrance at “Custom Botanical Perfume Blending Workshop” on Sunday, May 5th, 2019  from 11am-3pm at Atelier des Modistes.

Fitzgerald & Guislain is a Northern California all-natural perfume house combining historical techniques and the finest modern botanical essences available. The fragrances do not utilize any synthetically derived essences, only botanical and animal-derived materials. This indie perfume house is unique in their historically inspired blends creating meticulously reconstructed pieces based on extensive primary source research and utilizing period-accurate ingredients. Many of their ingredients are crafted in house as they are no longer produced by suppliers.

Rondeletia and Extrait d'Ambre are both such reproductions from the Victorian era.

Some outstanding examples of these historical techniques and sensibilities can be found in their original perfumes: Extrait d'Osmanthus, Le Muguet en Mai, Rose Imperiale, and Foret de Fontainebleau.

Just can’t stop poring over these amazing photos from Lelia Scarfiotti’s blog of the charming Rachel and Marcel.  Such a romantic wedding in Tuscany, featured on The Lane wedding blog.

Rachel’s gown is a haute couture piece combining a svelte heavy weight silk crepe skirt and a sheer lace applique bodice using my favorite lace from Sophie Hallette.

The wedding of Donna and Matt on the beach in Thailand was insanely beautiful. Check out the amazing photos by Melissa McClure.

 Donna in her ethereal and elegant gown. Her couture gown is a pale ivory chantilly lace from the famous French lace company Sophie Hallette. The underlay of champagne silk charmeuse is used to highlight the lace detail. Silk organza is draped over the bodice creating a lovely visual softness, then wrapping to create a soft structure to the skirt and train.

Brodie and Scott were married at her family home in Sebastopol, CA.

Her couture gown is made of silk chiffon from the famous Italian mill “Taroni”.

The Florence Gown with the matching appliqué veil. The Florence Gown  in a nude silk chiffon from Italy with a full lace overlay in an amazing Chantilly from Sophie Hallette, France. The matching cathedral drop veil and bodice detail is achieved using the appliqué technique and is entirely hand sewn in our Russian Hill Atelier.  The same lace was used in Amal Clooney’s wedding gown and veil.
