"Lan Zhan, look at me, look at me now!"
Just like before, Wei Wuxian called his name with a grin, and he looked over as well.
From then on, he could never move his eyes away again.

i want what they have
he is so damn attractive. like if i ever have a boyfriend, i want it to be him.
This book was such a powerful read that it kept me wide awake through the night. I told myself I would only read a few chapters, but before I knew it, morning had come and I had finished the entire story. It completely drew me in.
If I had read this when I was younger, I think I would have reacted purely with emotion, crying for the characters and questioning Wei her decisions. But reading it now, I found myself doing something different. Instead of judging Wei, I tried to understand her. Her choices made me pause and reflect. I kept asking myself if I were in her place, facing the same fears, pressures, and impossible circumstances, would I have done the same? Would I have been brave enough to make the decisions she did?
I feel so torn and deeply sad. My heart aches for Terren, Maro, and all the innocent boys who are turned into tools by their parents and by the empire. I grieve for the friendship and brotherhood they could have shared, for the lives they might have lived in a kinder world. I mourn for the gentle hearts forced to become cruel simply to survive, shaped by a world that gives them no other choice. Most of all, I grieve for the children without parents, for those who are hungry and unable to go to school because nations and governments are too consumed by war.
That is what makes this story so moving. It does not just tell events; it forces the reader to think and to feel deeply. The author’s message comes across clearly and sincerely. She is strongly anti-war. The novel shows that while war may bring pride and glory to a nation, those words mean nothing when ordinary people are the ones paying the price. What value is honor when families are torn apart, when people suffer from hunger and fear, when children die simply because there is no food to eat?
The Poet Empress delivers a message that goes beyond its historical setting. It speaks to every generation, reminding us of the human cost of conflict and the quiet strength of those who endure it. This is not just a story to be read. It is one to be felt and remembered.

An illustration I painted and turned into an animated gif. This was very tedious but I like how it turned out.

Such a 5/5 manhwa. Really enjoyed this one and laughed out loud while reading. FL is such a fun and interesting character, I'd like to write a story with an FL like her someday.
okay you seem nice but do animals trust you?
hi. just a reminder your spirit didn’t break. it just shape-shifted into something quieter so it could sneak past the guards.
love, someone who made it out
love this :)
