Days like these when you go to fetch a guest and see this view on the side while walking up and down the hill to the Homestay.

What a beautiful feeling! The trees, the grass, the Ravens and birds chiroing in the bacground, mountains partially covered by the clouds, the tip of the Himalayas trying to reach for the sky, those houses. Cold wind blowing across.

This view will now stay for the rest of the year and each time you come, you will be welcomed like this! Isn't that insane?

Green chana in pulses cooked in onion-tomato concasse and lots of mashed garlic. Chicken cooked in grated wet coconut and some freshly pounded homemade masalas. I was asked today Janhavi what will you be cooking today? What all is there to eat for lunch? And I told the person Soya bean cooked in fried sliced onion and grated dry coconut purée with my homemade masalas for flavour. Aloo cooked in finely chopped fried onions and garlic paste, it had a little crunchy and a crispy taste to it. Chicken cooked in burnt onion purée, burnt garlic purée, ginger paste, garlic paste and green chilli paste. Plain Daal simmered in hong and salt served with warm ghee from the top. My Saturday food mania had some delicious spread of food today which included Crispy Bhendi cooked in fried onions, grated dry coconut and garlic paste, sprinkled cinnamon powder for flavor. Cabbage cooked in sliced onions, whole green chillies slit opened, garlic-chili paste. Chicken cooked in finely chopped onions and tomatoes, mashed garlic, ginger-garlic purée and a pinch of pounded light whole gram masalas. What did Mumbai people have today for lunch from my kitchen? So this what they had. I decided to cook some simple yet tasty food with no masalas added. Gobi Mutter cooked in mildly spicy onion-tomato concasse, garlic paste. Tasted simple and blissful. Gavar (Cluster beans) cooked in oil and lots of smashed garlic and Chilli powder for the taste. This is a late post from my yesterday's menu and this is what I cooked. Chicken sautéed in Ghee and and freshly grounded homemade light masalas and cooked in finely chopped onions, garlic paste. It had a very chatpata yet a crispy taste to it since the chicken was sautéed in ghee. Matki Chi Usal cooked in onion- tomato concasse, green chilli paste and lots of mashed garlic. Capsicum cooked in finely sliced onions, tomato purée and crushed salty dry peanuts. Black dal cooked in spicy onion tomato concasse, loads of mashed garlic and simmered in generously added fresh cream. It had a very creamy yet a yummy garlic taste to it. What did I serve from at janhavi's kitchen. It was a no chilli powder day in my kitchen today. I cooked Chawli Chi Sheng (Long Beans) made in fried garlic and green chilli purée blended well with finely chopped onions and grated dry coconut. Doodhi (bottle gourd) cooked in garlic purée, tadka with green chillies, curry leaves, added a pinch of coriander powder and dalchini powder (cinnamon powder). Monday lunch relishings included Pan fried Aloo cooked in fried onion and tomatoes gravy,ginger-garlic purée and homemade chili mix powder, burnt onion and garlic powder just for the flavor, it had medium thick gravy which was mildly spicy and tangy. Rajma pressure cooked in the cooker in onion and tomato concasse, ginger-garlic purée, graced it with a lot of shuddha ghee from top. Chicken marinated in Dahi and some light masalas for flavor, sautéed in pan fried masala and gave it a tadka of curry leaves from top, garnished it with raw finely chopped onions. My soulful Saturday had quite a sour and a medium spicy mix of menu. The weather was pleasant and so I decided to cook..
