hiii, here's a very long-winded explanation of why I like a very specific gavin ship ♡

#ig I should start by saying I joined the DBH fandom initially around 2018 #maybe 2019 #and I mostly stuck around through the end of 2020 but I also revisit every year or so #so I'm Old as far as fandom vet status goes #point is I've seen most big shifts from this fanbase as they happened #and the first big and very funny shift was people starting to ship gavin with rk900 #I didn't really get how or why it happened but all of a sudden people Did and at the time I found it hilarious #so I started shipping them “for the bit” and frankly I think a lot of people started out that way #because sure lets ship the guy with like 5 mins screentime with the guy you literally only see once for 5 second #and most people never even saw rk900 bc you gotta get a shit ending to see him in the first place #I think what REALLY popularized the ship was when Octopunk began making reed900 films #which are fucking phenomenal btw. I highly recommend watching if you haven't #idk if it's true today but back then it felt like a much needed ship baptism to watch detroit evolution and reawakening #There's a lot more “lore” behind the ship history that if I tried to explain would make this SO much longer so I won't #but its still funny to look back and see how a crackship could become so beloved in a fanbase purely BECAUSE of the fanbase #I think reed900 kinda stands as a testament to the community DBH has always had and maybe that's why I'm so fond of it #I do dabble in other gavin ships from time to time because they're fun but ultimately I started out as a reed900 shipper by heart #and will probably stay that way. The bit's gone way too far for me to abandon now LOL /j #Anyway #idk if you were asking for fandom history or JUST my opinion but if you want to know more I could def keep prattling on another time #the only things I can't really speak on are what's very recent like I think someone made a comic series but I haven't read it yet #but I remember reading a lot of the most influential reed900 fanfics actively as they were coming out #stuff like that #sorry for the terribly long ramble #I'm very fond of yapping #detroit become human #gavin reed #rk900 #reed900 #rambles
