"people aren't polite around these parts, if they are, they usually want something from ya," ramona shrugs. "i mean, i know you want something -- my caps, so take 'em." she gestures to the payment she left him. simply business, as some would say, & that's how it should be. in her eyes, she can see this is the exact reason why someone would be polite ( merchant wants her to buy, so the merchant sucks up ) so in away, she respects the hustle, even if she feels it is completely unnecessary, especially when other merchants know to accept her caps & let her be on her way. "what? you want to become my pen pal or something?" she doubts it, she feels the merchant understands well enough that she's not looking to be friends. trust issues would do that to a person, but it's not like she doesn't have an entire long, long list of reasons as to why she doesn't trust anyone, especially not when they offer her something that could be poisoned. trust issues or caution? she likes to think she is just cautious.
"you're smart so let me give you some advice: don't accept random handouts from strangers, people will come after you the moment they feel like you owe them, or they'll just kill you."
"That Nuka Cola is what we call in business 'complimentary'. You just laid down a hell of a lot of caps for all that gear. Fairly priced, mind you. In doing so that means you make a lot of caps. Whatever your business. Which means, I wanna keep your business." Bluejay spoke rather matter of factly, but there was a touch of annoyed condescension there. He hoisted the cola bottle he was now drinking, since she had refused it, in a 'cheers' before taking a swig, "Ergo 'complimentary'. 'Spose I'm the fool, then." He paused, "You could'a just said 'No thank you. I'm all set.' A little manners wouldn't hurt this damn wasteland."
