haha i keep thinking about evren but i have no way to like... cohesively put what i want to say into words? like they’re literally an ANOMALY that just EXISTS in any form they want to take, casually floating through time-space? for evren, there are trillions of timelines that they can access, tangled together, branching off in countless directions. each timeline is a part of a bigger picture, a bigger timeline.
it’s kind of like... knitting a bunch of scarves at once? each row can be considered a timeline in ... lmao the scarf of that particular universe... each scarf has a STRICT pattern that has to be adhered to to be considered complete. evren’s existence in a certain timeline is like placing down a temporal stitch marker. if they do something that causes a skip in the stitches, the row will have to be scrapped and restarted at the marker.
that being said, there are also countless ‘imperfect universes’ that have been created after a skip, all of which evren is able to travel to, however, since their ‘marker’ does not exist in this universe, their existence will have to be ‘renewed’ and those in said universe will not have any recollection of her. timeline hopping in itself takes years, perhaps decades or centuries to build up enough energy for so it is effectively impossible for them to visit the exact parallel point of an alternate time period.
( of course, on a meta/ooc level, evren has not jumped from
anywhere unless it’s part of a previously plotted thread? or
an actual au/verse. evren acknowledges people as the only
iteration of that person, again, unless it’s been plotted otherwise. )
evren does not have any insight on what the the ‘bigger picture’ looks like. they have traveled the universe and have witnessed advanced technologies first hand, but they do not DARE divulge the secrets of the ‘future’ to any one species or race-- mostly out of bad experiences with temporal skips and timeline destruction. early on in their existence, they believed they were doing a service to the species they contacted by trying to speed up their evolution but instead, they only caused the DESTRUCTION of their timeline.
there actually isn’t really any way for them to tell what will and will not cause a time skip, aside from quite obvious learnings from advanced civilizations, therefore, evren does their best to keep their opinions and advice to themselves in case they trigger a rift in time-space.
