The Social Club + Updates

 Hello, hello!

We took a little time off from blogging, but we’re back with some hot updates.

Four months into 2018 and we’ve shot half a dozen weddings, portraits with some of our favorite clients, traveled for commercial shoots, and have met with tons of brides about upcoming weddings. Needless to say, we’re pretty pumped for this year. 

We're particularly excited about shooting more commercial stuff, in both photo and video. While weddings have been our MO (and still are), we love broadening our horizons, learning new techniques, and connecting with small businesses in our area. 

Which brings us to a shoot with one of our favorite business in Norman: The Social Club. 

Co-owners Erica Smith and Dana Scott started The Social Club in 2012, and it's my absolute favorite salon + shop in Norman. The atmosphere is perfect. The ladies are incredible. Your hair will look like a million bucks when you walk out. Also, you probably won't leave without buying some cute jewelry or a cocktail glass. And the cards! They sell the best birthday cards. Anyway, I could go on, but you should really just check it out. Here are some photos from our recent headshot session with a bunch of super lovely ladies.

We don't always do newborn photoshoots, but when we do, it's for babies like Leo. There's something about capturing reality that we're consistently drawn to. I hope his arms have the little sleep marks in them. I hope he jolts awake and does his signature hands-over-mouth move, and squints his eyes. These are the subtleties we're looking for, not the ones we're avoiding. If you're into that too, then hit us up. (at Atria Creative)

There are several ways to do the ‘garter toss’ at your wedding, but if you don’t have a preference, this is always a great one. Also, the barn at @hillside_manor_venue in Norman is about as authentic as it gets. Videographers love it because there are plenty of lighting options, and the sheet metal is a fun surface for bouncing flash and (my personal favorite thing to do) mixing with available light. It has the rustic, country vibe of reclaimed wood, but its exposed metal gives it a unique character. Huge thanks to @lunalynncollective for doing a fantastic job on this beautiful wedding. Had too good of a time hanging out with Marisa, Paul, and their pup Marshmallow at the first location of their engagement shoot, and we were late getting downtown to shoot some golden hour shots, but I'm glad we were forced to use unconventional and found light sources. It's not everyday your clients are up for a long and experimental night shoot, but it's an inspiring challenge when it happens. (at The Bull in the Alley)
