estheriisms:
a small scoff came from her lips. she’d never been good at showing or even admitting her feelings, especially when it came to guilt and remorse. “you act like it was some secret plan of mine, get us involved in everything and then turn on you,” her voice barked as she crossed her arms tighter almost hugging herself at this point. she paused for a moment taking a shaking breath. the words kid on the way still rung in her head, she had known and maybe that’s what stung the most. she had been the one to take away his future. if anyone she ever knew deserved happiness and a good normal life it was atticus. “i did sell you out,” she finally breathed eyes narrowing in on him softly, “and i am sorry atticus, so god damn sorry” her voice was still soft as her eyes studied his face. “it’s not excuse, but those fucking treeville cops,” her voice was shaking ever so slightly at that point, “so, is that what you wanted to hear?”
“FOR ALL I KNOW IT WAS, esther. i had three long years to try and figure out why.. how you could do something like this to me of all people.” it’d never occurred to him to give anyone else up. not her, not anyone. so why, why had that even crossed her mind? why did that seem like the best solution? god, that hurt. he felt like a fool. a large part of him wondered how well he truly knew the woman that stood before him now. “those fucking cops? no, they’re not to blame here. it’s on you. this is all on you.” he was quick to let her know, shaking his head slowly. “you ruined everything for me.”
