I think something people aught to reckon with is the fact that a lot of jewish people living in the diaspora may one day be israelis, or at the very least, israel is the place they will run to when it's time to run. if nowhere else is safe, then I'm running to israel. I'm not israeli now, and I might not ever be, but I could be. most diaspora jews (not all) see themselves as possible future israelis. not for sure, of course. we hope and pray that the time to run never comes again (we know it will, of course, so at the very least, may the time to run not come during our time), but it is possible. that's part of the reason "antizonism isn't antisemitism" doesn't work. israel is our safe haven. every diaspora jew alive is a jew who hasn't had to run to israel for their own safety yet.
so yeah, not only do I think hating israelis is gross on the basic value alone that "hating someone because of their nationality is wrong," but because I know that you will see me like that some day if I have to run. like you just hate jews, either own it and slap a swastika band on your arm, or cry for a bit and then learn how to be better. those are your options.
it's always "op is a zionist" and never "op is an antisemite"
shows what they think discredits people (being jewish) and what they think means you have to 'engage with their valid points' (hating jews)
i still sometimes think about the demonization of caring about the hostages vs the universalization of palestinian suffering via everyone relating their own personal experiences to it. the fucked up double standard of it because there is no limit on compassion for people suffering especially when so many who care about the hostages want to bring them home not through more violence but through peace / ceasefire
and now we have a ceasefire deal and i'm sure the majority of people will primarily care about because of the (hopeful) cessation of palestinian suffering. which, yes, i am also incredibly happy about! but when i looked at that list of hostages to be released and i saw kfir bibas i teared up on the spot. and people demonize and don't comprehend that and erase/trivialize the hostages' existence and suffering.
and if this ceasefire doesn't go through because the hostages don't get released i'm sure the story will be that israel was shitty again and the hostages won't get considered at all.

Its frustrating that people are going "hey look at all these things which trump is doing which is similar to what Hitler did when he was in power, we are so fucked" and then just not mentioning the rise in antisemitism.
Like antisemitism was a major part in why hitler was elected into power.
Hitler blamed Germanys issues on jews. During his election, he pulled back from spouting antisemitism to make himself look more sane, but all the issues he campaigned on were issues that were blamed on the jews.
He didn't say "jews are ruining the economy but I can fix it", he knew that people were already blaming jews and campaigned on that.
According to the ADL, only 3 months after Oct 7th, antisemitism increased 360%. And it's not like rates of antisemitism has started to go down.
You cannot talk about how facisiam in the US is on the rise, compare it to the rise of hitler and not mention the rise of antisemitism.
Jew hatred was essential to hitlers rise to power and his actions. You cannot talk about jewish history and erase us from the picture.
the beautiful thing abt reading neil interacting w literally any character who is pissing you off is that he'll get a good jab in for you and then ur like yeah neil whack him again!!!! and then HE WILL!!!

also i find it deeply funny that in tsc andrew is just kevin’s pet goalkeeper and kevin’s pet monster and “that creepy little goalkeeper” when he takes up soooo much space in aftg in literally every fucking scene. even when he isn’t physically present he’s taking up space on the page because neil won’t stop thinking about him. then u get inside jean’s head and he’s like yeah aaron minyard is uninteresting outside of his outstanding murder charge and andrew is also there
FYI, I'm still unfollowing people who post or reblog things calling for the end of Israel's existence. You should know that when you do, you are calling for the expulsion or murder, or at best the oppression of millions of Jews. *At best*, you want Israeli Jews to suffer what Palestinians are now suffering. That is not justice; that is revenge. Your condemnations of collective punishment are revealed as pure hypocrisy when you call for more collective punishment in return.
the way 'nice dichotomy idiot what lies outside of it' has saved me so many hours of being insane with my thought patterns
I remember a year ago, someone at my school did a presentation about antisemitism dogwhistles on social media. It was extremely extensive and powerful. Afterwards, me and a friend were walking back, and I ask what they thought, and they tell me:
"I wish they had talked about LGBTQ+ rights in it, though."
They wanted to have a mention of homophobia. In a lecture about antisemitism.
Of course homophobia is a real thing. Of course there are definite intersections between the two forms of discrimination. Its just that, when there was a presentation about the daily hurt a marginalized group faced, they thought to themselves: 'Why wasn't this about me?'
Remember: If a group is talking about their issues, do not compare them to another group. Its not cool.
Non-Jews are allergic to letting even one (1) thing be about Jews.
I just finished reading We Need to Talk About Antisemitism by Rabbi Diana Fersko, who talks about this in section titled Just Call It Antisemitism:
"In 2021, a letter came across my desk from the head of an elite prep school in New England. It condemned antisemitic and anti-Muslim hate. It acknowledged the increase in hate-based events and attacks against the Jewish and Muslim communities and said that these antisemitic and anti-Muslim attacks must be stopped. It was meant to be an act of awareness, compassion, and solidarity.
"Institutions calling out hate is a good thing. It lets targeted communities know we have mainstream support. It lets people know that hate is not tolerated. Sending this letter sounds like fair-minded, justice-seeking behavior.
"The thing is, there had been no spike in anti-Muslim attacks for the previous two weeks. Instead, the letter was circulated in a moment of intense anti-Jewish violence, specifically. It was sent after a rabbi was stabbed multiple times walking out of a day school. Diners at a restaurant in Los Angeles had apparently been asked, 'Who are the Jews?' after which at least one person was brutally beaten. Jews across the country were anxious and afraid in a way many of us had never been before. Nearly ever Jewish institution in the country had heighten their security. And yet, the school didn't release a letter condemning antisemitism, period. It was antisemitism and."
"Antisemitism is the only form of hate that requires a chaperone to be discussed."
its also happening rigth now. the conversation around antisemitism rigth now is always "islamophobia and antisemitism are on the rise." and im not saying that islamophobia isnt on the rise or that we shouldnt talk about it, but yall dont view jews as human enough to care when someone tells you antisemitism is on the rise. but antisemitism and islamophobia on the rise? suddenly people care. its very "all lives matter". you talk about how 6 milion jews died in the holocaust? no one cares. you add "the nazis burned books about gender and communism" and suddenly they care.
Honestly so many of the problems with western leftism can be boiled down to white saviour complex mixed with Christian guilt.
Book 3 Percabeth is insane like 😭 in "We Visit the Junkyard of the Gods" Percy spent three paragraphs talking about how Aphrodite was the most beautiful woman he's ever seen and the fourth paragraph started with "she looked like Annabeth"
