Just want to say I’m normally against Anti Vaxxers but for the COVID Vaccine I got an Uncle that got it despite everyone telling him to wait for potential side effects

He said he’d be fine with the side effects if it meant he wouldn’t get COVID. Well he got the side affects and a month later he caught COVID as well so yeh I’m not planning to take it cause side affects are only worth it when you can guarantee the vaccine actually works

No one has ever claimed that vaccines are 100% effective. But the data are clear - over 99% of COVID patients who are admitted to the ICU are unvaccinated. The vaccine overwhelmingly reduces the chance of getting seriously sick. That alone is reason enough to get it.

I did my thesis on eugenics and forced sterilization in Canadian history (indigenous specific) and the next cis woman to say that men should collectively be forced to get vasectomies for points on some kind imaginary scoreboard of rights is getting sent a copy of the records I had to sift thru of men, mostly indigenous, racialized, developmentally disabled, or poor men, being sterilized against their wills and often without their knowledge.

i see a lot of people saying this or that could kill a medieval peasant or a victorian child, and i feel we need to make an important distinction: medieval peasants watched executions for fun, and had absolutely no spices for their food. victorian children were very sheltered, and had cocaine and opium in every single medicine. a sour skittle could kill a medieval peasant. kin discourse could kill a victorian child.

medieval peasants, despite living subsistence lifestyles, spiced the fuck out of their foods. the idea that spices were gouache and food should taste like itself is a much more recent invention of stodgy rich ppl, and as for the cost, well, think about how much you spend on things that taste good over things that are cheaper but taste like fuck all.

victorian children would, on average, witness half their siblings die before age twelve. there were popular children’s picture books geared around teaching young kids to cope with the massive childhood mortality rates. they were terrified of death and sexuality, sure, but they also saw a lot of them. i think once you got it across what kin discourse was, they’d invent new kinds of it just to distract from the horror of factory-driven child labor.
