getting slowly more attached to my mahito!sorcerer verse.. him being nanami’s friend and a mentor to yuji. and then mahito dying pre-shibuya by a non-CE attack. coming back as a cursed spirit and shibuya continuing as canon. with cursed spirit mahito still killing nanami and yuji watching 🥲

mann i fell down a research rabbit hole and found some info about the kashima school of swordsmanship and if this would not be the coolest basis for someone’s combat style:

something interesting wrt last post is that idle transfiguration is originally mui tenpen; which is a reference to the buddhist phrase ui tenpen.

ui (有為) equates to the concept of impermanence born out of cause of and effect. its antonym is mui (無為) wnich means to take no action and to let nature run its course

i think this really ties into mahito’s belief in his objectives being tied back to the nature of his being. or what yuji discovers to be the cog mentality. everything mahito is doing is “idle” in his viewpoint as it’s the natural course for hatred (which he is; personified) to bring death and pain
