Remember to honour your local house and nature spirits! It might seem trivial, but forming a connection with the forces that you spend most of your time with will skyrocket the quality of your space and mood.

Animal Without, Animal Within : Restoring The Shapeshifters Stang At The Witches’ Wood
This weekend at the Witches Wood at Raven’s Knoll I was able to work with a stang that I had not before.
The shapeshifters stang has been in a sad state for a while, transformed into nothing but a small stick. The furs gone, the bones rotted, the offerings black and fallen. The new stang had been resting there and ready, I couldn’t bare thinking of folk coming back to nothing, yet I didn’t want to rob anyone of the chance to work with the stang. I had to sit and think and talk to the animal within.
So, curled into the den I began to wash and lovingly take away the rot, honouring each offering thanking them for their love and service. I kept some things that still had life to give, Bob the skull now nothing but his upper face, was washed and cleaned with sacred waters, and the stang stripped bare. I had a moment of silence thanking the bones of the fetch, once a great young stang now a peaceful staff, an elder who’s earned its rest. I laid it to rest in the boundary wall, to watch on as the new stang steps into its place. Turning now to the new I began to replace the stripped items to their new home. Bob looked happy with his new jaw and the the offerings were beautifully placed. New additions of rabbit fur and bones, shells, snake skin, beads, and bones were added and finally the stang was finished. What started as a solo work became a group affair as everyone tucked into the den to place the stang, digging with shovel, paws and claws. The energy was tangible as we burred it into the earth, cradled by offerings and libations of water and herb. Stones were gathered and placed around the base and one last wash was poured over.
Excitement and accomplishment wash over everyone as we stepped back to look at the work we had done. standing proud and ready for the folk was The Animal Within, and almost as if our time had run out the sky began to open and we rushed to gather our things before we were caught in the coming storm. As I walked back to camp I think of the animals I saw this weekend, all the different spirits that had shown themselves to me Otter, Butterfly, Raven, Snake, Squirrel, Toad, Frog, Crane, Beetle, bat and spider, everything moving and breathing together, living together on land.
I am thankful for the time I was given, and the work done, and now The animal within is no longer the animal without.
The Witch's Stang
"Robert Cochrane was the first Witch (to my knowledge) to utilize a forked ritual staff specifically called a Stang. In his tradition the Stang serves an important symbolic purpose in ritual. First and foremost, it’s the Horned God. When placed between a cup and a knife, it’s the Horned Child created from the union of the Goddess and God. With a sickle placed at its foot, it becomes an altar of the sacrificed God."
"Today, many Witches use their Stang as a tool for soul-flight. When traversing the spirit worlds, I’ll often hold my Stang in hand or place it under my knees. The Stang then becomes my stead, carrying me over the hedge. In this capacity, I’ve often heard the Stang referred to as a 'Bune Wand.'"
"Supposedly Scottish in origin, Doreen Valiente describes the Bune Wand as any object Witches use to fly*. While this doesn’t necessarily exclude a forked branch, the etymology of the word is pretty specific, as simply another term for Ragwort"
"In regards to why Witches would use such an object for flight, it’s been suggested that the bifurcated stick is actually a cooking fork. This would make sense as Witches were cited as using a number of household objects to fly"
"As a director of the Witch’s power, the forked staff is sometimes referred to as a 'Gwelen.'"
"It may be used to direct energy, to banish unwanted influences and spirits and conjure helpful ones. It is used to mark out and conjure the working circle and stood in the ground it forms the altar and a bridge between the worlds" -Gemma Gary
"Although we can see a bit of overlap with Cochrane’s Stang, Gary specifies that they are not the same. The main difference being that Gwelen serves an operative function while the Stang serves as a tool of ritual symbolism. Still, we see modern practitioners combining the two into one tool, which these use indiscriminately."

Soul Matter Spirit Desire
Earth Wind Water and Fire
Types of Protective Magick:
Apotropaic: Usually in the form of amulets, written charms; used to turn away an undesired force. Examples include the Gorgoneion, a holy scripture (such as the Bible, Quran, Havamal, the Bhagavad Gita or the Devi Gita), Iron or Iron-Based Items.
Decoy: Instead of the Malefic Force hitting the practitioner, it gets distracted with an item or representation. Like a poppet, piece of meat.
Spirit Trap: The Malefic Force is given a distraction that prevents it from hurting the practitioner. Can include a layered plant like onion. Some make use of grains of sand, salt or rice which supposedly forces the spirit to count it rather than enter the house.
Offering: An item that is desirable is placed outside the house, the spirit partakes of that rather than entering the home. Especially suited for the Deipnon.
Warding (Spatial): Items are placed around the space that set up a protective barrier. Can become an issue when filtering, make sure to set the intent that malefic is kept out and benefic is allowed in.
Guardians: Statues can be infused to keep watch, allowing good in and evil is warded off. Some animals are very lucky and can be used for magnetizing and pacifying (reducing negative qualities and instilling positive ones in the home)
Floor Washing: Particular herbs or items are noted for their protective qualities. Might not mix Fire Herbs with Water, but it also depends on the space. Martial Herbs might be preferred outside but not in the living space where relaxation and peace is sought. Most basic is basil or salt.
Door Guarding: An item is placed over the door to ward off evil forces, horseshoes, iron, signs with sacred scripture, chalking and so on. A plant can be kept by the front door.
Binding: More active form of pacifying, enemy or force is stopped and blocked by methods. Prevents movement and action being taken against the practitioner. Useful for spirits, a spirit may be bound to a tree or item to prevent it from doing harm until it is decided or mediated. Can be used to help with illnesses and fevers.
Bodily Warding: Amulets worn on the body, strengthens spiritual connection in some cases while preventing unwanted forces from interacting. Veiling is common. St. Cards, Spiritual Scriptures and others can be kept or recited over the self. Useful before rituals.

"Within every woman, the essence of Durga resides, and within Durga, you find every woman."
Women, just like the Navdurga forms, are a tapestry of divine energies – they possess the strength of Shailaputri, the wisdom of Brahmacharini, the grace of Chandraghanta, the nurturing spirit of Kushmanda, the love of Skandamata, the resilience of Katyayani, the fearlessness of Kalaratri, the purity of Mahagauri, and the empowerment of Siddhidatri. They are the living manifestation of the divine, each woman a unique blend of these sacred energies, embodying the essence of Navdurga in their daily lives.
She embodies the role of a nurturing mother, providing unwavering strength. She's the protective sister, shielding you from harm. As a lover, she stands by your side until her last breath. A trusted friend, a cherished daughter, and yet, if you wound her, she can be a double-edged sword, capable of destroying you.

“The problem of human existence is the forgetfulness of the Divine essence of the Self and the identification with the body as the Self. Through concern with the body and its needs and desires, the true Self becomes identified with worldly concerns and the fulfillment of desires of the body, mind and senses. This is the development of the ego and individual soul. This identification with the desires of the body 1s what leads the soul to further ignorance of its true Self. It is the pursuit of desires that keeps the mind occupied with worldly thoughts such as the fear of disease and death of the body, the pursuit of pleasure and happiness, and the eradication of things which cause displeasure. Gnosticism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Ancient Egyptian Religion all emphasize the need to practice detachment and dispassion toward the body. These disciplines relieve the pressure of the lower desires, which impel a person to run after the illusions of life. These traditions hold that only through detachment is it possible to calm the mind enough for it to perceive the transcendental reality.”
