What’s the First Step to Taking Back Control?
Your bad credit is not your identity.
Where you are right now is temporary — even if it feels like forever. Anxiety can make it feel like 100 years, but the truth is: you can start turning this around today.
Here’s your first step: know where you stand.
Go to annualcreditreport.com to get your free credit reports from all three agencies:
Equifax
Experian
TransUnion
Once you have them, review for:
Errors or inaccuracies (wrong accounts, incorrect balances)
Negative marks (late payments, collections, bankruptcies)
Credit utilization (how much credit you’re using vs. your limit)
Hard inquiries (who’s checked your credit recently)
Did you spot a mistake? Dispute it through the credit bureau’s portal. But don’t file yet — first, gather your support documents (bank statements, receipts, emails with the creditor, etc.). Submitting a solid, well-documented dispute makes a big difference.
