Mother of the Careers

The districts weren't allowed to learn to fight, yet the Careers learnt it for the Hunger Games. What fascinated me was the loophole because there had to be one. Some legal justification allowing these District kids to learn to fight. Yes, the government in the story is a dictatorship and oppressive. However, this is allowing the oppressive class a right that could engage the Capital. President Snow, despite his power, couldn't go against his support power base (ex Mockingjay scene where the Capital citizens were supposedly bombed by Snow). Again, there had to be a reason or excuse to do it.

In my previous fanfiction "Seventieth," I used the justification of pirates to justify District 4 having Career tributes. For this story, I used that these children were being trained to be Peacekeepers as justification. There's still more to the story. How did District 1 and 2 get on board to supporting the Games? Why did they changed from being against the Games in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes to being for it?

Also, why did Cashmere support the Hunger Games if she were being sold out like Finnick? Was it the same? How did this propaganda machine get start and strong in District 1 and 2? We realized these districts were favored by Panem. What did they exchange for it? This tale gives some answers.

So, these are my background thought for the book. For the character of Atalanta, I wanted a more opposite nature and yet a similarity to Katniss. She became a propaganda tool like Katniss but willingly. This character is indeed morally gray. *spoilers* I twisted Katniss' backstory for hers. Atalanta didn't volunteer for her sister. She became a volunteer/Career because of her twelve year old sister. Interesting to note, this isn't Atalanta's first appearance in one of my fanfics. In "Enduring" Brutus' mother is actually Atalanta. ***Spoilers end*** If you like the character, I have some further ideas for more stories with her. "Fang Shaped Moon" Fanfic

This is my continuation of "Web of Stars" Thrawn story. That story came out around the same time as Timothy Zahn's book which reveals the whereabouts of his Thrawn's sister. So, I had a concept for the sequel book, and then read about the Zahn storyline. This new canon didn't actually contradict my idea. I could go ahead with it.

What postpone writing this story? One reason was time in my schedule. The second reason is my graphic plot line involving *spoiler* Thrawn's sister being slowly dissected. This is why my fanfic has a PG13 rating.

Crazy problem that arise during writing is the same first initial. Ezra Bridger and Eli Vanto, if I go by their first name, it's e and e. It seemed more Thrawn like to refer to them by their last names. (By the way, I hate coming up with name, so I gave up not using the same first initial in the story lol).

The fun part of the story is writing the connections to canon and added to legends. Like how did Ezra land on that planet in the Ahsoka? What caused Thrawn to create his own Empire? I used to play SWG. As readers of my other fanfic know, I used the npc Queen Mother, and this series I expand upon it.

"Psycho" an Autodale fanfic

Mystery stories are a rarity for me, but the Friendly Shadow's origin story calls for it. Though it is his story, a hero can only be as good as his villain. So, Psycho is the best serial killer in Autodale's history. His existence caused the birth of the Friendly Shadow. It made the Shadow a necessary thing in the Hive's mind. That even when he defies the Hive's orders, she's leery of destroying his mind.

*Spoilers* For watchers of the series, you'll notice a familiar name being used. For old literature lovers, you'll notice the last name of Newman. I think my professor once mentioned in some classic stories that they would hint at a new idea or new concept being introduced by using this last name.

Brace yourself this is a tragic tale. Hope you enjoy it.

Awakening the Fanfictions

On Feb 6, I posted my Frankenstein 2025 netflix movie "Wife" fanfiction on Archive of Our Own (under the name DarthChocolate). This was inspired from youtube clips and music video tributes for Elizabeth and the monster. For this story, I add elements (characters) from the books and movies, though I wouldn't call it a true mash up between the materials. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Moving right along, the tentative fanfiction schedule for my next four fanfics.

April will have "Psycho" an Autodale fanfiction, the origin of the Friendly Shadow.

June will have "Fang Shaped Moon" a continuation for my a Grand Admiral Thrawn story.

August will have "Mother of the Careers" a Hunger Games fanfiction.

October will have a Howling Crag Clan origin story with title name pending.

"Proper Teachers" an Autodale Fanfiction

"Model Citizen" was the first one that I watched of the series. This black and white (though red is shown for blood) series is amazing. It's foreboding, intriguing, and captivating. Dystopia disguising itself as Utopia is fun.

For my story, I was influenced by obviously "Friendly Shadow" and the "Immortal Machine" episodes. With Shadow and the Mayor being half humans, the concept of another half human "Proper Teachers" emerge. Strangely, while thinking up this story, I hint to Friendly Shadow's origin story "Psycho." Hunger Games fanfiction “Enduring”

The concept of this story came from an orphan-account on Archive of Our Own titled “Snap the Line Tight.” It dealt with Annie being forced to be a prostitute victor. This topic hadn’t really been written about. True, several fanfictions involved Finnick negotiating to protect Annie from being forced to have sex or do a victor tour. While I totally think it’s in character for Finnick to sacrifice himself to protect her, it’s not in character for President Snow to negotiation.

Snow is purely a dictator. In the Catching Fire, he grew angry at Katniss for using her position as victor to save someone. The 75th Hunger Games with victors was created because he loathed the idea of any victor having power. This sadly means Finnick had no power to protect his love from being rape if Snow wished it.

Was Annie Cresta whored out like Finnick? Only the author knows for sure. Haymitch mentioned Finnick and Cashmere, but we can assume there were others. We can’t assume duration. Remember the phrase ‘your ten minutes of fame.’ It’s probably like this for some victors. Did Annie have this? Did her label of crazy protect her from being forced into prostitution or did it incite some people to want her? That is the question. And a matter for any other fan or fic writer to expand on. Hunger Games fanfiction “Grasping and Clawing”

So, after I did my first fanfiction of the Hunger Games, I read a ton of other Odesta fanfictions. Many didn’t really highlight the couple or were merely footnotes in the story. One fanfic stood out and inspired this tale, ongreenergrasses’ + (yes, the title is really + sign). Anyway, the story was unique and well crafted. The depth of feeling and angst in it is WOW. My insignificant hangup was the premise that *spoiler* Snow’s reason for hijacking Annie to kill Finnick is simply to hurt him. While Snow is cruel indeed, he wouldn’t be “wasteful” or do something for pure pleasure. It had to fulfill some purpose. That’s why fans’ theory of Annie being raped during her imprisonment in the Capitol makes sicken sense ☹ Symbolic revenge on Finnick for turning against him.

Because Finnick isn’t a major enough player to warrant an assassination attempt. Face it, Katniss was Snow’s obsession, his white whale. The only feasible way came from another fanfic ironically. The concept of Peeta being rescued from the arena of the Quarter Quell. This gave birth to the mashup tale of mine lol.

To differentiate from the two great fanfics, I didn’t have Annie be a Career like in ongreenergrasses nor was the focus on Katniss and Peeta. Though, while writing this, I remember people’s comments on Peeta’s superior ability to charm people, which Snow used in canon as propaganda. I thought it would play a factor for the resistance’s garnishing support. This was mentioned in the story.

In conclusion, please check it on Archive of Our Own. As for future Hunger Games fanfic, the story “Enduring” about Annie forced to have sex will be posted October 3. I have one other fanfic called the “Mother of the Careers” but that one is loong, so expect it months later. Anyway, take care.

Hunger Games fanfiction “Replacement”

While my fanfic “Seventieth” was written before I read other people’s fanfics, this story was written after I read a ton of them lol. You learn a lot from reading or studying other people’s work such as your mistakes. For “Seventieth”, I had written the parade scene with the mentors in their own private chambers, which is incorrect. Someone’s else fanfic reminded me that the mentors were visible for the parade that’s where Katniss saw Haymitch and Chaff passing boozes secretly to each other, I believe. So for this fanfic, I made the change.

Other fans’ amazing stories about the emotion and psychological toll on Finnick were very interesting. This story delves into two of those because you can exhibit two different behaviors  like the desire to not be touched and the uncontrollable urge to be touched. It’s also sad with abuse that the individual can gravitate towards abusers or become abusive.

The special aspect of this story is Snow’s family. Ever since I heard fans talking about the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes about Livia Cardew marrying Snow, I could picture their family life being horrible. Nasty, self-absorbed people don’t make good parents or spouses. Add in the difficulties and pressures of a high-ranking position. This is a recipe for disaster. However, I had no clue why my brain wanted to put this storyline in with my basically Annie and Finnick tale. It wasn’t until a title emerged that this all fit together.

Mags got his stroke and needed therapy, so she couldn’t attend the Hunger Game. Annie was her replacement. It was up to Snow to decide whether this was a permanent replacement or not. Now, Snow’s useless son wanted to replace him. In turn, Snow was toying with the idea of removing all his family except for one granddaughter who would replace all his other family. This is the summary of the story and how the title “Replacement” came about.

"First Encounter" Star Wars fanfic

*spoilers ahead* Though this is part of my History of Dathomir series, it has some fun Mandalorian backstories. First one is combining the Old Republic with the new cannon. How? Clan Vizla was part of the Old Republic. In this fanfic, the future powerful clan Vizsla descended from this old clan. Tarre Vizsla being Force Sensitive wasn't a fluke but rather part of his partial Dathomirian ancestry.

Second backstory was for the "Mandalorian" beskar spear. It was unintentional and just popped up during writing. I had been toying with the idea that some fans had that Clan Fett might have some Force Sensitive background because of Boba Fett and Omega riding of rancors. So, I had an ancestor hook up with a Dathomirian. As for the beskar spear, the Armorer was wrong. The spear was a gift of honor and made by a Mandalorian weapon smith. Unexpected Treasures 3 of 3

“What else would you like?”

This Dathomiran woman Rubina had quite a deadly ancient collection of artifacts for sell. Luthen Rael was a little overwhelmed by it but refused to show it. “What else do you have?”

“Armors and weapons.” She led him out of the holocrons house to another house within the outpost.

Many people collected those things and paid top credits for them. The first floor had various weapons. Though he could sell them in his shop, he didn’t want his cover business to be associated with owning weapons. His public identity needed to be far removed from his rebel activities. This didn’t stop his curiosity. “How did you acquire all these things?”

“I didn’t. My ancestor did from fallen enemies, payments or gifts.” She pointed to a beskad.

“That was a gift?” Luthen found it hard to believe any Mandalorian would gift their sword. “Does the Mandalorian even know Dathomir exist?”

“Some of the clans do. Would you like to hear the tale of our first meeting?”

“Alright.”

“Mand’alor Eze Vizla used this beskad in his duel with Singing Mountain Clan woman Yepa,” Rubina related. “Since he obviously didn’t want it as a reminder of his defeat, the blade was gifted to us. Ituha’s beskar spear had been gifted to her mother by Arlan Fett. It remained in the Misty Falls Clan for centuries until the Nightsister defeated them. I don’t know what happened to it afterwards.”

“Interesting,” though Luthen didn’t fully believe this wondrous tale.

“The sword doesn’t fit your shop. However, the tale fits you and your friends. You’ll purchase this instead.” She gave him a sith stalker helmet. “It’s safer for you.”

“I appreciate your concern.” He didn’t appreciate her cryptic behavior.

“It’s getting late. Do you wish to spend the night?”

“No thank you. I should be going.”

She escorted him to his ship. “Before you disembark, I’ll give you one Light and one Dark piece of advice.”

“Dark?”

“Don’t come back here nor mention this place to others if you value your life.”

“And the other?” He stepped onto his ship.

“Tell your shadowy friends to persist in their insurmountable endeavor because all empires fall.”

First off, the lizard in the mouth of the other lizard didn't die. Don't worry. He had the other lizard by his neck for for quite a long while, but I saw the loser escape and hide. This is what we're (my family and I) figuring either they fought over a mate or territory. Leaning towards a mate. Thankfully, the quarreling ended peacefully. Here is another weird from my backyard. Hunger Games Fanfiction “Seventieth”

What I liked about the ‘Hunger Games Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is a glimpse behind the workings of the Hunger Games. You got to see the setup of the mentors and the interaction between them. So, my fanfic is partially focused on Finnick and Mags working behind the scenes with other mentors.

Some fans have seen a parallel between Finnick and Katniss. I like this concept and utilize it in my story. So, when I conceived Annie’s backstory, I borrowed heavily from Peeta’s. For the Capitol chaperone, I had her be slightly opposite from Effie too.

The one thing that I couldn’t wrap my head around was District 4, the fishing business being rich, since in real life that mostly isn’t true. I preferred instead that it had rich parts such as the owners of the fishing companies and the hotels. Resorts being there makes sense because of the waterfronts. With those two businesses, it is very reasonable for this district to be one of the richer than the other districts.

Career vs Career

An interesting question to ask is ‘why were Careers allowed to train for the Hunger Games?’ If it’s illegal to bear firearms or fight for the districts’ citizens, why did the Capitol to a blind eye to Districts 1, 2 and 4 training their kids to fight?

My thoughts on this are that Districts 1 and 2 are where most of the Peacekeepers forces come from. Like Ancient Rome, there was one group of Barbarians who had joined the Roman army. The novel does mention that Districts 1 and 2 are extremely loyal to Panem and fought with the Capitol. So, it would be an easy excuse of having a younger age for recruits to the Peacekeepers and from these sprung the Careers. There is another logic to it as well. Though there was a Victor purge during the war against the Capitol, it’s unlikely that President Snow killed the victors from Districts 1 and 2 and chance bad blood. Then, why weren’t there any victors left except for Enobaria? Because they died fighting as Peacekeepers.

Now, to the odd case of District 4. Unlike Districts 1 and 2, District 4 wasn’t mentioned as strong supporters of Capitol. There was also another difference. Finnick was fourteen when he was reaped for the Hunger Games. For my fanfic “Seventieth,” I pondered these points. This is what I came up with. District 4 has Careers, which are children who are trained to fight for the games. However, that’s where the similarities end. District 4’s Career don’t actually volunteer to go into the games, though they might volunteer for a younger sibling. Parents pay for their children to train for their protection.

What is District 4’s excuse for having Hunger Games combat training schools? Pirates. That’s my crazy idea. Please check my fanfic “Seventieth” on Archive of Our Own posted this Friday, April 4.

400th Yay

Back in my day (lol I feel old), we didn't have Archive of Our Own or Fanfiction. com and etc. We visited individual fan's website, which hosted their stories and sometimes other people's fanfic. So, on March 2001, I actually submitted my Gundam Wing fanfic. At the time, I was very into the tv series. It was airing on Cartoon Network. I missed the first episode and got to the second one, but still liked the series. It wasn't that I was a huge Heero and Relena fan. I was probably digging the violence romantic of "I love you, but I'm going to kill you." It was always funny seeing Heero denial and blaming his gundam for not killing her.

As for my fanfiction, there were some changes from my original version. Mostly, the work had to be smoothed out with better phrasing and transitions. I originally spelled Long Meilan name Long Meiran because there was something else written at the time that used this spelling. For the life of me, I can't exactly what it was. But I prefer this because it's from the source material of Episode Zero manga. Anyway, thanks for listening and you can check out the old yet new fanfic here.

“Gundam Wing Episode Zero” is probably exactly what you’re thinking – a prequel for the series.  So, there is a cute image of Heero Yuy as a little boy in a suit and Wufei's wife and Leia Barton. I tried out taking a photo of the inside page (thank you stuff animal for holding it open for me). It wasn’t easy using my cell phone camera. Hopefully the chapter index is clear enough and I will do better next. Now, with Hulu airing the series, there are probably new fans without access to the Gundam Wing comics. If anyone would like a chapter (except for the last one which ends on a cliffhanger) posted to view, I'll try to do it. However, if there is a legitimate service, which allows viewing, I will take it off. In the future, I might have other comics from the series to post up too. Take care, new fans.
