âAurum, love! I would hug you, but my hands are kind of full and babies are confusing. But at least we know babyâs name now. Hi, Rory.â
âRain check. Itâs Andromedaâs and Apolloâs daughter. She is cute, yes?â

âAurum, love! I would hug you, but my hands are kind of full and babies are confusing. But at least we know babyâs name now. Hi, Rory.â
âRain check. Itâs Andromedaâs and Apolloâs daughter. She is cute, yes?â
âGreat. Iâve been great. Roryâs down to two naps a day, so I can actually get some work done while sheâs asleep, instead of her waking up every five minutes, me having to do something for her, then her falling asleep again. So thatâs great. Howâve you been?â
Aurum shrugged, smiling. âIâve been alright. It is nice to see you. When do I get to meet Rory?â
âNot a problem, Mam.â
âMam? Thereâs no need for that. Iâm Aurum. Who are you?â
âAurum! Aurum, hi!â
âHow have you been?â
Spark walked into the room, a little surprised to see someone standing in front of her.
âOh. Hi, Spark.â
âI seem to have found a small child,â Kol said, holding a blonde baby in his arms. âWhat do I do with it?â
âKol! Youâre back! Thatâs Rory!â
âGuess whoâs thin and pretty again, and who now actually weighs less than before her pregnancy? Iâll give you a hint: this person not only looks good again, but also has the cutest baby in the whole wide world.â
âHi, Andie.â
Laika stepped into the elevator, looking at the array of glowing buttons. As she saw another person coming her way, she held her hand on the door, waiting for them to get on. âDidnât want you to have to wait for the next one.â
âThanks. Thatâs polite of you.â
âIâve got some vodka, and some other assorted hard liquors. And some⊠painkillers. Strong ones.â
Aurum nodded, folding her legs underneath herself. âI would really like to try those painkillers.â
âOf course. You want alcohol, or something else?â Tywin never sold anything, but heâd share what he had.
Aurum sniffed, tilting her head at Tywin. âWhat have you got that youâre willing to share?â
âNeed something stronger?â
âHave you got something stronger?â
âWhy didnât you, then?â
âI got her killed.â
Milan smiled slightly. âLook in your hoodieâs pocket.â he said, gesturing to the piece of clothing the girl was wearing.
Aurum did as she was told, scooping the coins from her pocket. âWow.â
MIlan smiled a little. He simply quickly closed his hands, and reopened them, and of course, the coins were gone. âWhere have they gone?â
âI do not know.â Aurum answered softly, smirking now. She perked up a little from her slump, sighing. âWhere?â
MIlan smiled slightly. He wasnât done yet. He showed both of his hands, which were empty, then he turned them, palms of his hnds down. Then when he turned them back up again. There was a coin in both hands. He looked at aurum to see if she was a little more impressed now.
She nodded, still trying to smile. âYes. Very good.â
Milan took a coin out of his pocket and showed it the Aurum. âNormal coin, right?â he asked as he let the girl see it. Then he put the coin into his hand and made a fist. With his other hand he hovered over the fist three times, then when he opened his fist up, the coin was gone.
Aurum watched tiredly, and tried to smile a little, when the trick had concluded. Normally she would have tried to find the coin and figure out how the trick was done, but right now, she was just too tired. Just too exhausted. âNice.â
She gently placed a hand on the other girlâs cheek. âI can handle annoying, I donât mind. Whatâs wrong?â
âA lot of things.â Aurum said quietly, closing her eyes. âI did not go to my sisterâs funeral. She was the only family who was like family, and I did not go.â
