Honestly, to this point, I was all about Bea not being a horrible person, just a really bad girlfriend, even the thing with donut doesn't put her (on my very personal moral code) any lower than any other person who sells, or even buys, pets. But this thing with Asher just crossed all the lines, I take it all back, she's terrible, she's completely insane, it's unfair that she's the only one who's relatively safe when they all have to go through this shit, I hate her.

yuna was born and raised in montreal. david went to college there. they definitely took shane to metros games at the bell center growing up. he KNOWS montreal, at least a little bit. but ilya? he doesn’t know shit about boston. never been there in his fucking life. he speaks english, sure, but speaking a language and knowing literally anything else about a city, about a country, are such vastly different things.

and here’s this boy, who came to find him and introduce himself to ilya when he had absolutely no obligation to. and he tells him yeah, boston’s great too, and he believes him, because he’ll believe in anything if shane hollander says it.

Sometimes I feel like I just come here to post unpopular opinions but here I come.

I hate how people are acting as if all tlg problems are moved by Ilya's inability to communicate, as if it's his fault for not saying what he wanted clearly to Shane and that's justo so crazy, I'll make this argument in three points.

First, if you read the book and doesn't let fanfiction blur your vision you'll know that Ilya may be at fault for a lot of things, but not knowing Shane isn't one of them. If he sat down and told him, let's say at the beginning of tlg, that the plan wasn't working for him anymore Shane would undoubtedly freak the fuck out, and here we can argue if he would end up picking Ilya or hockey but it's undeniable that it would put Shane on a lot of stress and that he wouldn't handle it well.

Second, miscommunication is such a problem not only cause Shane isn't very good at talking or even understanding himself, Ilya is also from a culture (and, more importantly, from a family) that treats open communication, specially about things such as depression, as a weakness. Ilya's not a liberal boy from a loving home somewhere in western europe (or canada for that matter), it's unfair to his character to expect him to act as such.

And lastly, because that one tt got me really mad and started all this, I do think that it's your responsabilidade in a relationship to try and understand your partner and think about how your actions are affecting them. I say that to in no way put the blame on Shane, I honestly think that person or projecting saying Ilya "should communicate" when that's not a part of his character (yk, since he isn't real!) but if one talk about characters as if they're real people that should be blamed for not acting in a way you consider "healthy" their point would still be void because in those terms I still believe that in a real life relationship you own more to your partner than what he explicitly asks, and if you don't agree go listen to Olivia's begged.

I don't know what they think they're achieving with all this hate towards the possibility of Shane not taking the C from Ilya and just being happy in the Centaurs in general playing as equals to his husband as if that would be a horrible ending for him because they made it up in their minds that Shane is by far a better player than Ilya and that would put him a subservient position to Rozanov but could they please keep their heteronomativity away from my boys

Love that Shane and Ilya are so insane for each other that it basically invokes the Forced Proximity trope from 500 miles away. Being in the same conference is too close for these fools. Being the same LEAGUE. What do you mean I have to see that guy once every six weeks and somehow keep my cool. What do you MEAN there's only a single international border separating us. How am I supposed to keep my emotional walls up when that guy sometimes occasionally comes within the general metropolitan area of my person. How can I fall asleep at night knowing that we're under the same constellations. This continent isn't big enough for the two of us. We're gonna have to kiss about it.
