āOh definitely. I left the finer and prettier champagne glasses alone,ā Veronika told him, setting two glasses on the counter. She trotted to the cabinet that held records and CDs and tapes. She fiddled with the record player and eventually got something to play.Ā āWhat do we have here?ā she asked, referring to the alcohol.
Ā Ā Ā Austin smirked, watching as she set the two glasses on the counter before he moved forward, popping open the top of the bottle that was in his hand and pouring the liquid inside of the glassware. Picking up his own, he brought it to his lips, allowing the dark liquor to slide down the back of his throat.Ā ā Whiskey. Tastes kind of cheap but, itās not half bad.Ā āĀ
āOh, I did,ā Ā She nodded. Ā āAnd then someone was killed and most people started hallucinating. Ā So I really donāt think most parties are for me.ā
ā Clearly I missed that one.Ā ā He sighed.Ā ā Were you friends with this person?Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āI was saying did you want to get a box of butter popcorn for a dollar fifty ??ā Nate asked as he rang through the movie tickets.Ā
Ā Ā Ā ā Yeah - no, Iām more of a gummy worm guy at the movies myself.Ā ā Austin chuckled softly.Ā ā Quick question though, is this movie even worth seeing or am I just going to waste the next two hours of my life?Ā ā
āI think they called your order number, man.ā
Ā Ā Ā ā Number twelve? I couldāve swore they said number ten.Ā ā
āI was saying. Please move yourself a few inches that way so I can grab my bag. Youāre blocking the way.ā
Ā Ā Ā ā Oh.Ā ā Austin sighed, moving off to the side so the girl could get her bag.Ā ā Kinda figured that someone would need that back, sorry about that.Ā ā
āI did no such thing,ā Aradia answered as the man spoke up when she almost passed by him. āI merely tried to tell her there was a better way to handle something than how she had. Apparently people donāt like to hear theyāre wrong.ā
Ā Ā Ā ā That was sar Ā Ā nevermind.Ā ā The male muttered, slowly nodding his head as she explained to him what exactly happened with the girl that had walked away moments before.Ā ā Well, what is it that she didnāt handle correctly if you donāt mind me asking?Ā ā
āYou know, I think this guy does have a few records around. Find some alcohol and Iāll fetch the records.ā
Ā Ā Ā ā Sounds like a plan.Ā ā The male smirked, moving around her to reach in the higher shelf to grab the bottle he had eyed before.Ā ā Did you at least save a couple of glasses for this?Ā ā
āI never had any intention of doing so. Ā I always left that up to you and my sister.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Right. Well, I guess thatās good but, you donāt want to miss all the fun all the time. You should give some parties a chance.Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā ā What?! Shit, sorry Ā Ā kind of zoned out a bit there. ā Austin quickly apologized, his head shaking slightly to get him out of the daze he was in. ā But uh, what were you saying?Ā āĀ
Ā Ā Ā Ā nicotortorellaĀ itās never too late to resurrect. happiest easter.
She wasnāt sure how to react to him standing there. She was cursing herself for nearly spilling her coffee on him. She let a silence fall between them, and she wanted to run.Ā
āIāve uhā¦Iāve been busy lately.ā It was a lie, but she couldnāt tell him heād been avoiding him lately.Ā āA lot has come up.ā That was the truth. For some reason, she couldnāt look at him for very long. Her eyes moved from his to the ground every few moments when she talked to him. Anytime they were in the same place, their conversations always took a turn for the worst. For once, she was trying to prevent that from happening. She wanted to keep things civil.Ā āJust got back? Where have you been?ā
Rosalieās eyes found the ground again, and she stared at the splattered coffee on the concrete.Ā āI didnāt get any on you, did I?ā
ā Yeah, Ā busy I get that. ā The male was used to things being weird with them and didnāt even acknowledged the fact that she could barely look at him, because the truth was he could barely look at her either. He had his own reasons, reasons that he honestly didnāt like thinking about but, every time he looked at her he was reminded of them. That night a couple of years ago changed everything, it changed a lot and as time went on it changed him in ways that he didnāt expect. He didnāt like thinking about it, he hated thinking about it but, standing there now it was the only thing that seemed to be on his mind - Ā Ā it always was, and thatās why he always tried his best to avoid her himself.
Ā Ā ā Uh yeah, I was visiting my dad. ā He nodded slowly, easing himself out of his thoughts with a shake of his head. His family was another reason he was always so distant with her, after his mother died he kind of shut off all his ties with everyone and with it being a year since then he was just now slowly starting to mend everything back together, and was trying to get himself back to normal. Austin didnāt really tell her much about his mom being gone though, just a quick mention when it happened since she knew of his family but, other than that he never really talked about her death with her or anyone for that matter.
Ā Ā Ā ā What? Oh, no, I donāt think you did. ā He chuckled softly, looking down at the splattered coffee that was long since forgotten. ā You might want to get another one though, they might even reimburse you for spilling. ā
āIāve never really been one for theĀ āparty sceneā anyway.ā
Ā Ā Ā ā Thatās probably a good idea. I mean, drinking leads to hangovers, hangovers lead to... yeah, not joining the scene is a really good idea.Ā ā
āItās a new trend. All those indie kids are into it.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā And here I thought they were just into breaking records. Yeah, good to know.Ā ā
āOh hey now come on! What did I say wrong? I swear I didnāt mean it!ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Well you did kind of insult her mom.Ā ā Or maybe she insulted her shoes,Ā Ā Ā Ā he didnāt know, he wasnāt actually listening.Ā
ā cāmon, do i not have the face of someone you can trust??ā she gave a sweet smile to add to her cause.Ā ā i so do.āĀ
Ā Ā Ā ā Actually, itās kind of the complete opposite.Ā ā The male remarked, arms crossing over his chest as he eyed the girl.Ā ā I mean you just saying that makes me think youāre up to something.Ā ā
