Brief Summary: Sabo noticed everything when it came to you. Of course he noticed your poor attempt at hiding the fact that you hurt yourself again.
A/N: Something very short and self-indulgent I wanted to write & post. Unfortunately my classes started so requests are going to take even longer because I am already slow when it comes to them...and that just makes me slower. So I waaanted to do something short and quick in the meantime.

While you knew it was inevitable that he would find out, you did expect it to take longer than a single day. Though, now you were sitting in front of him as he gave you a sympathetic look.
“Why didn’t you talk to me?” Sabo questioned, one of his gloved hands lightly traced over the haphazardly placed bandages.
“…You’re busy,” was the only response you managed to give. You looked away from his gaze and he let out a small sigh. You winced at that, “I’m sorry,” you mumbled out.
“You don’t need to apologize, I’m not upset with you,” Sabo stopped his previous ministrations and gently turned your face towards him. “I can always make time for you. You make time for me, don’t you?”
“That’s different! You’re way busier than I am,” you protested and he sighed again, though there was no annoyance behind it.
“It’s always different when it comes to you, huh,” he moved to pat your head. “I’ll always make time for you anyways. I’d prefer you interrupt me in the middle of something instead of hurting yourself.”
“I’m sorry, Sabo,” was the only response you could come up with.
He grabbed one of your hands in his own and gave it a squeeze. “It’s okay, really, I promise,” he then moved to stand up. “I’ll change the bandages for you.”
“You don’t need to do that, I can do it myself,” you spoke in an attempt to stop him, but he wasn’t having it.
“I’m right here, so let me,” Sabo smiled and you couldn’t bring yourself to protest further.
You watched quietly as he moved around the room and got what he needed to help you. You continued watching as he removed your previous poor attempts at patching yourself up. His brows furrowed a little upon actually seeing the cuts and you were once again feeling guilty. Sabo seemed to notice this as he leaned over to place a kiss on your head. You heard him whisper an “it’s okay,” as he pulled back.
“There, all done,” he spoke as he finished replacing your bandages.
“Thank you…and again, I—“ you started to apologize again and Sabo immediately cut you off.
“It’s okay, just,” he, once again, grabbed your hand in his own as he spoke, “I’d like it if you didn’t hide it from me next time though. If you can’t tell me beforehand, at least tell me right after, yeah?” The same sympathetic smile returned to his face.
“…Okay,” you sighed as you intertwined your fingers with Sabo’s own. “I’ll…keep trying to work on telling you before I do anything too…”
“I’d appreciate that,” he pulled you into an embrace.
You leaned into him, “Um…thank you for not being mad at me, Sabo,” he frowned at that, though you couldn’t see it.
“You don’t need to thank me for something like that. I wouldn’t be mad at you over it,“ he pulled you closer to him. “I love you, y’know that?”
“I love you too,” you smiled a little at his words. “…Can we stay like this for a while?”
Sabo practically beamed at the question, “Of course,” he somehow managed to pull you closer. You let out a small sigh of contentment, maybe you’d get better about telling him eventually. For now though, this felt like enough.
People die on the job every summer. Remember that water and shade breaks are crucial when working in the heat, and calling emergency services for signs of serious heat illness (fatigue, nausea/vomiting, headaches, dizziness, clammy skin, confusion, agitation, slurred speech, high body temperature, rapid heart rate, etc.) is entirely appropriate. If you’re afraid to call 911 for reasons such as being undocumented, you’ll need to get very familiar with how to prevent, recognize, and treat heat illness. If you are symptomatic and not allowed a break, water, or medical treatment, walk out. No matter how broke you are, your job is not worth your life.
I don't want Qifrey to become a Brimmed Hat, but if he did, this is the design that would cause me the most emotional damage. My headcanon is that Olly made the tassel glow to keep Qifrey warm, despite it all...
