Grace explaining sheepishly to Eridian linguists that the reason he uses different pronouns for Rocky than for the rest of the population is that he reflexively defaulted to assigning Rocky the same grammatical and social gender that he himself uses, in a way that has historical precedent but in modern English is considered somewhat chauvinistic and backward, and he's not proud of it but also the habit is pretty deeply ingrained now and unless Rocky objects it's probably easier to just keep on as he has been...

Okay, but real talk, I'm actually quite sad and frustrated about the declining amounts of aroace Grace + close platonic/queerplatonic Gracerocky in the fandom right now :/ As an aro-spec and asexual person, it felt so great to see how prevalent and loved the aroace Grace headcanon was right off the bat. People loved it! And it was widely accepted!! But that's dropped off noticeably, despite the fact that Grace is all but explicitly stated to be aroace in the book and movie (not that I think Weir actually intended it; I'd bet he doesn't even know what aroace means; Lord and Miller are a different story, though, what with the whole trans Gwen thing in Spiderverse 2), and like. I'm sad about it. Not to be a hater, but I feel like all of the Bmary shipping has had a hand in it... feels like a lot of people, once they found a guy to ship Grace with, forced allo-ness in there instead... (ship and let ship, yeah, but I'm tired) (I already have Bmary blocked but all the filtered posts in the PHM tag is kinda nuts). It smacks a bit of aphobia, if you ask me.

And I definitely don't mind romantic Gracerocky as much (though I prefer them platonic/queerplatonic), but, like, I'll see so many posts of them that aren't explicitly romantic but are tagged as such, and a guy just wants to reblog platonic/queerplatonic Grace and Rocky, y'know? A lot of the non-explicitly-romantic cuddling art is like this. I miss all the platonic cuddling art :( Where has all the platonic Gracerocky cuddling art gone :( My touch starved besties :(
