I’ve been pushing my product photography skills the last few days. I figured out the camera settings, natural lighting positioning, and editing to create very rich vivid colors on both the wood table and the fidgets. I also figured out how to create a soft complex lighting with natural light and shadows.
I’ve figured out that everything in the autism industry being made for parents of autistic kids while ignoring us autistic adults is 100% because desperate parents of autistic kids make the industry’s easiest targets for profit. We autistic adults were ignored because we are much harder to profit from.
This is a full step-by-step guide for us autistic, ADHD & neurodivergent adults to take over the sensory industry.
How to design and manufacture chews the right way, how to manufacture spinner rings, how to curate fidget toys.
I have written a lot of articles, and an autobiography, over the last 6 years. This article I wrote today is the most important one I have ever written.
I am 41. I won’t be able to do this forever. Eventually my Essential Tremor will completely take over. So with this, I am passing the torch to other entrepreneurs in our community to take over our industry now, and pave the way for future generations to ensure predators never dominate the sensory market ever again.
A step-by-step guide for us Autistic, ADHD & Neurodivergent adults to take over our own sensory industry.
One of the great things about my store serving autistics is we are all phone call avoidant, so I don’t need a store phone number, because no one will want to call me for customer service. I love doing everything myself, but I do not want to be a call center too.
These are my Heart Chew Necklaces. I designed every part of this chew pendant myself. The thin structure, flexibility, specific type of texture, where the necklace string loops, the 2 rich lipstick type of colors.
The silicone manufacturer tried to talk me out of the custom adjustable necklace strings I wanted, but I said it has to be adjustable I will accept nothing else. They made it happen for me.
Half a year and thousands of dollars later, the Heart Chew Necklace was finished being manufactured the right way.
I wanted to create something for the most extreme chewers, because I couldn’t source anything strong enough, so I did my best to create that.
Before I made any claims of durability I sent the Heart Chew Necklace to someone who is one of the most extreme chewers, and asked her to aggressively abuse test it to see how long it would last. Despite her best efforts to chew through it over months, the Heart Chew pendant remains fully in tact.
My Heart Chew Necklace shows it was possible to create something for the most extreme aggressive chewers this whole time, but the industry just chose not to.
I learned the chew product industry selling to autistic people has been 3D printing chews for a very long time, for over a decade, and I’m apparently the only one who is horrified by that. All these handmade, custom made chews, impossible designs for silicone, all 3D printed. 3D printing filaments has always been toxic, but no one seems to care autistic people have been chewing on literal poison for over a decade.
All those incredibly detailed designs, that can’t be made with silicone. Silicone can only make raised tactile texture, smooth, or indented texture, and that’s it.
Nothing I can do about it, except keep selling only chew necklaces made the right way and bulk purchased from the silicone manufacturers who make them.
Breaks my heart that no one seems to care.
If you see a chew that is shiny, it’s not silicone it’s plastic. Silicone is dull and doesn’t shine.
If you see a metallic color chew, that’s toxic paint from 3D printing.
Thin outline chews are impossible to make with silicone.
AI hallucination products in the chew industry is half the industry.

I go into hyperfocus mode for days in a row sometimes. Especially when there is something for my AuDHD brain to solve for my business. ADHD idea machine brain mixed with the autistic seeing every little detail at once. It is both a magical combination, and my greatest disability.
My Heart Chew Necklaces I designed myself for hard chewers. I finally got the colors accurate, and with a film art style.

📢Urgent PSA for autistics/ADHD/neurodivergents:
I've seen so many of these 2 types of chew necklaces and chew sticks. Do NOT chew on these. They are extremely unsafe.
Hollow Chews:
Anything hollow do not chew! Hollow is flexible with no resistance in the middle, and can break extremely fast, and the pieces are a high risk for choking.
Silicone Bead Necklaces:
The beads are baby teething beads, they are not meant for chewing. They are small and those pieces will break in half and cause choking. The FDA found the teething beads pose a significant threat to the lives of infants and toddlers, so adults should NOT chew those beads.
Age limit: Children 5 years old and younger should NOT chew on chew necklaces. If a pendant or stick cracks, the small child might not know the pendant has become unsafe to chew. The necklace string is also a major risk for a child 5 years old and younger.
If any chewelry cracks, breaks, or sheds pieces of silicone, do NOT keep chewing on it. Those pieces could cause you to choke.
Christmas is coming up, and I want to get this warning out to everyone in case it can stop someone from giving these dangerous chewelry as gifts, or stop someone from giving a chew necklace to a 4 & 5 year old child as a gift. Christmas gifts are to help a loved one feel special, and these could be gifts are extremely dangerous!
I think masking is so hard for us autistics because every time we do it, deep down it makes us feel like we're not good enough.
After a lifetime of being unable to read facial expressions & body language, feeling lost socially, and getting bullied for my autistic ways, I just avoid people.
Part of me wonders if autistics actually prefer being alone, or if we just want to not be bullied anymore.
I get along so well with cats, because we have the same social rules.
Do not approach too quickly
If you're a stranger do not make eye contact. Just sit down nonthreateningly several feet away and pretend you don't notice me
Frequently communicates nonverbally
Will scream when overwhelmed
Responds positively to treats
When I was 12, I would not let myself watch a PG-13 movie because I was not 13 yet. I took the PG-13 rating very literally. My parents said it was okay but I said no I have to be 13. After my 13th birthday, I said okay now I can watch this movie. Somehow the autism was missed.
Sometimes I wonder if my cat Nikita understands me.
Ex: Last night I told her "I miss you sleeping above my head." When I said "I miss you" she perked up like she understood me. 20 minutes later she comes to bed for the 1st time in 5 days and sleeps above my head all night.
I think with ADHD and autism, there’s a fine line between “this thing that I have is bad and makes existing hard” and “This thing I have is bad, so that means I’m bad”
When we get judged harshly by others, and simply existing is hard, it becomes easier to fall into this self-hatred.
But who you are is good, remember that.
