Important details to note:

His name is Michael Holt

He’s a legacy character. There was a Mr. Terrific before Michael named Terry Sloane who has been dead for decades. He’s the reason why “Fair play” is written on Michael’s jacket sleeves.

His origin includes attempted suicide.

His mask has a purpose! It makes him a walking blind spot to cameras.

The New 52 Mr. Terrific is a completely different character.

Recently I was talking about this panel of Bruce moping around in Dick's room at the Manor -

- and people in the reblogs mentioned that this was after the earthquake that destroyed the Manor and therefore Bruce would have to restore Dick's room, which reminded me after some time of this panel from an earlier issue of this run -

Something so endearing to me about the idea of Dick saying, "This isn't the Wayne Manor I grew up in!" and Bruce then painstakingly recreating his room for him.

Double food for thought: does he ever actually tell Dick he painstakingly created his room? Like, Dick doesn't live at the Manor, visits sporadically, unclear how often he actually sleeps over, what are the chances he actually goes and looks at the room where his used to be (or so he thinks)? Does Bruce ever think to open his mouth and say 'hey Dick, I recreated your room after the earthquake so it's the way it was when you left it' - or does he just spend the entire time Dick is in the Cave/at the Manor desperately trying to telepathically beam this information into Dick's brain without actually bringing it up?

And sort of in Bruce's defense here, there kind of... isn't a great way for him to bring up "hey I have all the details of your room so completely memorized that even when the earthquake destroyed the house I was able to have it painstakingly recreated, so it's just there whenever". Like obviously Dick would understand, he knows that Bruce is just Like This™, but I do wonder if this is one of those rare instances where Bruce's social self-preservation instincts kicked in and said 'hey is this maybe a bit weird?'

Maybe Princess the tarantula never had anything resembling what we as humans know as emotions, but she still came out of her burrow and up to the glass when we’d talk to her and used to stare at the drawing I’d tape to her terrarium. Maybe she couldn’t even comprehend what we were, but she knew we were there to take care of her. And even if she never showed that sort of curiosity or trust we’d still love her.

Idk if Munchie the praying mantis felt love for me, but I do know he trusted me enough to climb onto my hand when offered and was comfortable with allowing me to carry him places despite me being absolutely massive in comparison to him. So that's close enough in my book.
