Villanelle | 3x08 - βAre You Leading or Am I?β
Villanelle + sitting like a lady
wrestling ur nemesis at ur own wedding
do you ever think about all the moments throughout ke s1 and s2 which hinted at and served to build towards eveβs growing darkness? how meeting villanelle was a catalyst for eve to take notice of, acknowledge, and almost give in to those moments? how eve had barely had the chance to process these moments as a part of herself, let alone accept them, going into the events of the s2 finale?
what about how eve made the choice to kill raymond not bc she was ready to, but bc she couldnβt watch villanelle die? and how that choice made her sick in the moment, left her shocked and catatonic afterwards? how within a few months, eve went from a normal woman with a husband and a house and a chicken to a woman able, if not entirely willing, to kill someone with an axe?
do you think about how eve, almost immediately after killing someone for the first time, finds herself to have been manipulated by the one person she mightβve thought would understand? who sheβd chased halfway around the world, found, stabbed, thought dead, and found again? and how finally, still reeling from the gruesome axe-murder sheβd just committed, eve tries to walk away, only to be shot and left for dead?
do you ever think about all that? me too. i think about it a lot, bc it was fucked up and the tension was hot and, honestly, eve killing someone with an axe was also hot
but more importantly ive been thinking about the disparity of emotional depth in season 3 storylines. its been on my mind since about midway through s3, but its especially important now in light of the all white s4 (β¦& s3 & s2 & s1) writers room and the conversation that creates about the treatment of eveβs character
villanelle spends season 3 on a personal and emotional journey leading her to the eventual realization that she doesnβt want to kill for the 12 anymore (including a few episodes where she doesnt appear to even think about eve), thus setting her up nicely somewhere in the middle betweenΒ βnormalβ andΒ βmonsterβ
and, by the end of s3, eve has seemingly joined her there - no longer just one of the normal people walking by on the bridge, but also not having fully given intoΒ theΒ βmonsterβ inside - for the first time, together and on somewhat equal footing
but, really, when did that happen?
at the end of season 2, eve goes pretty quickly from moderately dark thoughts and mildly terrible choices to straight up murder, and reacts to this the way one might expect from a character who is repeatedly shown to have misgivings about her own moral indifference
(that is to say, she reacts poorly)
and then, in season 3, the whole event is justβ¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦never mentioned. literally. not once
in episode 1 and then, i think, quickly forgotten about after that, eve struggles with shoulder pain from a gunshot wound that was most definitely not in her shoulder. this happens a few times, and largely serves as a reminder that eve isnβt over the events of last season despite the 6 month time gap. at varying points throughout the season she also throws up at her work (after talking about villanelle), throws a cake off of a roof (bc it was from villanelle), attacks villanelle on a bus (bcβ¦shes villanelle), rolls her eyes at any mention of love (bc villanelle), and casually compares traumas over dinner (though she fails to mention that time she murdered a guy).
in short, eveβs emotional journey throughout season 3 is related largely to villanelle, instead of the trauma from eveβs own choices and actions (with exception to a few emotional moments over kennys death)
for all that they built eve up the first two seasons as someone who has dark urges and immoral thoughts, they also wrote a character who explicitly struggled with those things, who had regrets and hesitation and misgivings, and to not allow eve to acknowledge and process her own trauma is not only a fucking disservice to the character, but it fails to bring eve around to the place she needs to be in order to realistically move forward with villanelle
in summary if they donβt at least mention in s4 that eve killed a man im going to find laura neal and fight herΒ

Why does Hollywood only choose to make wattpad stories into movies? Someone needs to tell them about ao3
This blew my damn mind
I fucking KNEW there was a difference between address and address!
You address a person by their name.
You give someone your address.
i hate this god damn bastard language
English is fuckin stupid
If Villanelle had Eveβs number the whole time

I died.
I canβt believe yβall stalked someone. What Jodie does in her private life does not concern us. Stop being entitled weirdos and grow up. Thanks :)
if you want more control, you have to show them you have some judgement.
killing eve | 03.02
People have not yet understood that the private life of anΒ βidolβ is not their business.
Iβm fully convinced that some bored asshole on Twitter saw that video of Jodie just having a genuinely good day because of her new hair cut and decided that they straight up didnβt want her to be that happy (because theyβre an asshole) and thought that spreading shit online would be a fun way to fuck that up for her
Wtf the things that are happening on twitter just donβt make sense. Like it just seems like they are looking for a reason to cancel Jodie. They made so many assumptions about her, her views, their relationship. They basically just made assumptions about everything that happened, and now theyβre canceling her for that. Fucking stupid. I donβt understand. Also everyone should just stay out of her private life.
