Went to see Project Hail Mary again and almost cried thinking about how Rocky was probably sobbing his eyes out (or the eridian equivalent) when he realized there was an alien ship and the alien could help him save his planet. Then he invented space suits so he could be closer to the nice friendly alien that talks all the time and doesn’t look like it’s dead when it sleeps.

loved project hail mary for many reasons but amongst them is the fact that rocky and grace’s relationship is my opinion one of the greatest representations of neurodivergent friendships ever. like yeah sometimes you’re just a guy who’s alone and a little distressed and then you meet another lil guy who’s also alone and a little distressed and oh well it might be scary to approach him because interacting right haha, but he gets you, and that is so exciting because you just get each other, and it can be a little weird at times but at the end of the day you’ve bonded and now you’re not alone and also a little less distressed so now it’s like “yes this is my guy yes he’s a little weird so am i and if anything happens to him i will DIE”

When Grace starts the "WHO AM I?" board, he writes "Carl... (foggy)", but when we come back to it at the end (before he's started erasing it to plan out going back to Rocky) it says "Carl... (fog )". I think there's a pretty obvious gap, and nothing surrounding it has been rubbed off. The last two letters of "foggy" have been intentionally erased.

The marine layer (fog) that hangs over the San Francisco Bay Area is named Karl. Seriously, a significant portion of Bay Area residents (especially millenial or younger) call the fog "Karl" in casual conversation. All the time. I've heard it. It is very confusing at first.

I don't think Grace ever remembered Carl well enough to be certain he existed. He erased the "-gy" in "foggy" because he thought maybe he was just thinking of the fog. He likes the fog. He still doesn't remember having one single true friend on Earth. He likes the fog.
