I'm too lazy right now to grab quotes, but I'm not really bothered by the additions to the Lan parents story, mostly because it was mostly already in line with my own interpretation, but I also think the conclusion that the Lan parents were in love is also...not explicitly in the text and kind of beside the point regardless. The point to me is that even if he didn't physically force himself on her, even if she possibly had some sort of pity or affection for him, the entire situation is deeply fucked regardless? The same way it would have been deeply fucked if Wangji had forcibly taken Wei Wuxian away and hidden him in the Cloud Recesses to save him in his first life even though Wei Wuxian 1) commited some real crimes including crimes against the Lan and 2) had some affection for Wangji. The same way it would be deeply fucked if Xichen managed to save Jin Guangyao's life at Guanyin temple and locked him up in the Cloud Recesses forever because he believes his crimes deserve punishment but isn't willing to see him die. JGY loves him and they have a mutually acknowledged relationship and have been sworn brothers for twenty years and that situation would still be very bad. Xichen's bringing this up when he does for a reason! He is contemplating his narrowing amount of choices and conflicting duties and desires and he is seeing his father looking back at him. Even if in a universe where Jin Guangyao survives the events of Guanyin temple and agreed to go with him after the temple as he is now badly injured and this is his only option if he wants to live, like...it's bad? It's bad. LXC should definitely not have sex with him under these circumstances even if he remains in his room and JGY is the one who comes to him.
