Luci wasn’t really sure how this all started.
Well, he knew how the whole thing between him and Suwei started. He wasn’t drunk that night. And it would take a shit load of alcohol for him to get drunk thanks to the werewolf metabolism combined with his high alcohol tolerance. Luci liked to think that he was a bit tipsy that night. That’s why suddenly her lips started looking so fucking good. That’s why he kissed her and that’s how the whole thing started.
But that’s not what he wasn’t sure about.
In the one year that the two of them had been sneaking behind member’s backs and acting like they don’t spend nights tangled in sheets together, Luci couldn’t pinpoint when he started feeling those weird little jumps his heart made whenever Suwei entered the room. If they are in a room together, his body just gravitates towards her like a moth drawn to a flame. He knew that what he was starting to feel was gonna burn him sooner than later. After all of his relationships ended up with his heart burnt to ashes.
If Leona’s best friend is unlucky in life, well Luci has bad luck when it comes to relationships. His ex-girlfriend broke up with him through text on the day he was supposed to propose and a few months later Luci found out she’s pregnant. He ended up falling for his first friends with benefits but he’s in love with his best friend. Now, as he observes Su from his spot, he wondered how she would break his heart and if he would ever be prepared for it.
Shaking the thoughts from his head, Luci looked around the premises and spotted a random patron talking to Suwei. Immediately, his shoulders squared and his eyes observed the pair for a few more minutes. He knew that she could handle herself. After all, she is a trained assassin and spy. She’s perfectly capable of protecting herself from unwanted people. Suwei also made it clear that she is the kind of woman who doesn’t need a knight in shining armor. However, as the man took a step closer to Suwei, his overprotective instincts kicked in. Before he could even stop himself, Luci slid on Suwei’s side and wrapped a protective arm around her waist. “Hey, hun. I paid the tab already. Are you ready to go?” the werewolf asked loud enough for the man to hear. “Oh who’s this? Is he a friend of yours babe? I’m Luci, her boyfriend.”
Suwei didn’t quite know how to feel about any of this at all.
She didn’t do relationships. She barely did flings. Even if she did get caught up in something, she was very, very careful to keep it away from gang life, to keep it far away from Invictus. And yet-
And yet, here she was, a year into a... Something with Luciano, out of the frying pan and into the fire.
It wasn’t a relationship, she’d told herself many times over. Relationships were built on communication and mutual understanding and mutual attraction. Relationships were built on emotion. Their - dalliance, perhaps? No, dalliance sounded far too whimsical. Affair sounded too torrid, and wasn’t quite accurate either. Arrangement, maybe. Their arrangement in particular had been built on something far more carnal than it had been emotional.
It seemed, however, that after a year of ducking under covers, behind the closed doors of her apartments and away from prying eyes, something had changed. It hadn’t been a big change, no, but rather little changes over the course of time - a more tender hand here, a brushing back of hair there - and something about Luciano had grown achingly familiar. Something about Luciano had grown achingly comfortable.
Suwei didn’t quite know if she was ready for familiar.
Still, those were thoughts for another time, and they were quickly chased away when an unfamiliar face stepped in closer to her. She took a step back, nose crinkling a little as he leaned in even further. She was about to speak, to tell him to fuck right off, please, but she’d only just opened her mouth when there was an arm around her waist.
Her head snapped to her left, and she lifted a brow even as she played along smoothly.
“Nope,” she said, popping the ‘p’. “Never seen him before in my life. I’m sure he was just leaving.”
