wine drunk and reading a letter that I wrote to my future 22 yr old self on my the night of my 18th birthday. I wrote about how happy I was at that moment and everything that was happening around me and the goals I had for my future self. all I wanted was to be happy in 4 years and it’s making me cry. im definitely going through a rough patch with my mental health and feeling so confused and wish I could feel a little bit of the innocent joy of being 18 🥺

there is a steady stream that leads to a river. the river is wide, and edged by lush grass. it is a pale blue, pure and crisp. drink from it and swim in it, let it absorb your sorrow. it is shallow, mostly, but wade further in and you could dive deep if you wanted to. swim to the island in its centre. there is a tree to rest beneath. it will only turn to night if you wish it to.

go outside: the moon is coming towards you. it slips into the ocean and you follow it. it spreads bright, clear blue rays of light through the water, and when you wade in, you find it is warm. the sky is deep, deep indigo and the water is bright, so bright, like liquid stars. nothing will harm you here. stay as long as you like, and return home refreshed.
