The way Sam looks at the girl as she walks passed but Steve doesn’t even make eye contact because he’s only got eyes for one girl.
Ultron thinks we’re monsters. That we’re what’s wrong with the world. This isn’t just about beating him. It’s about whether he’s right.
#ok but ridiculous rom com halo of light aside#do you know what kills me about this??#steve wants them to prove they’re not monsters#and tony just looks at him like that pleading lost puppy#because previously in the movie he had already told bruce#that they’re mad scientists#‘we’re monsters’#when vision is born he says he might be a monster#and tony looks down when he hears that#and then here#steve just basically says#let’s prove we’re not monsters#and i am Suffering#because tony’s face is basically just#lights up#‘can we please do that?’#oh my god leave me here#tony stark#steve rogers#mcu#aou#tbh in some ways aou lacked in the writing department#but the acting was spot on as usual (x)

capmeme: eight quotes [2/8]
↳ "Is this a test?"
This made me feel things
No but this scene is extremely important and it’s why I’m angry at people who say that Steve’s characterization sucked.
Steve is the only one who understands where these two kids come from. Hill is trying to distant Steve from them because right after he says this line she says: ‘’We’re not at war anymore.’’. She’s trying to prove that Steve did the right thing because when the country is at war we all make some hard choices that we are not proud of. In war everything is permitted, and Steve did the right thing because he was doing it for the right cause. Hill is basically saying ‘You did it to protect your country and to save people and to make a difference, but these kids have no excuse for volunteering to these scientists.’
But how does Steve reply to that? To her ‘’We’re not at war anymore’’?
He says ‘’They are.’’
And it is SO important because Steve sees the big picture. For most Americans the war is something ugly that their grandparents had to deal with, something in the distant past that left mark but is also way behind them. But just because there wasn’t a war in America for over 70 years doesn’t mean that other countries have been so lucky. And Steve GET’S IT. It doesn’t mean that he’s not mad. It doesn’t mean that he will not fight them if they’re on the opposing sides. But he knows where they come from. And he won’t let them be reduced to some monsters who let German scientists experiment on them.
Because if Steve was anything but American during WW2, if he wasn’t on the ‘winning team’, he wouldn’t be labeled as hero.
My favourite line of Cap in AOU
Do you think Steve will ever forgive himself for the fact that when he was the one falling, Bucky jumped?
-the iliad, book 11.
#this is endearing and funny as well as completely fucking heartbreaking
The Avengers + expository cinematography
#THIS MOVIE DID THIS SO WELL OKAY IT MAKES ME REALLY EXCITED#AND GIFS DO NOT DO IT JUSTICE AT ALL#literally look#clint swooping down from the sky like a fuckin bird#nat straight-up like a spider in a web surrounded by trapped flies#thor riding in on some fucking lightning what did u expect?#bruce is literally in a green cage#tony is presented as iron man first - zooming off toward the city that’s about to be destroyed#cap is alone in a gym from his own time period which he promptly wrecks#i mean GUYS
Take a moment to consider this. Thor, Odin and Loki sharemany similarities with Simba, Mufasa and Scar. Like Thor, Simba is an overenthusiastic boy who believes himself to be invincible, he’s reckless and has little regard for authority as he has grown with entitlement due to the fact he is the son of a king. They both have much to prove and are eager to show what they can do. Whilst both are arrogant and sometimes foolish, they are both abandoned. In their time of abandonment they age, they mature and they become worthy of the throne and must return to claim what has been taken away.
Mufasa, like Odin, is wise in many ways, his rule is fair, just and he protects those under his reign. He wishes his son would behave, and is doing his best to raise him in a way so that he can be surpassed as king when the time is right. Then there is Loki and Scar, the jealous ones, but also the evil, conniving ones too. Whilst the throne does not belong to them they want it, they want to rule and they’re not above murder, treachery or deception to get what they believe is theirs. They do not begin outright in their tactics but play subtly, slowly taking control in the shadows, doing what needs to be done to weaken their enemies until the time comes to reveal themselves and topple the powers that be and take control.
