Oh god it wasn’t kidding
So for uh, reasons, what do y’all think “Watchful” means in-character? Is that just perception? Knowledge? Wisdom? Maybe memory?
Kinda trying to work out what losing 100+ points of Watchful means for good ol’ Gen
I did this too and the way that I reckoned it, having watchful 70 as a result of this isn’t the same as having watchful 70 from leveling up watchful 70 levelling up represents your character learning their way around the world, knowing its secret languages, and generally being able to think their way around situations that they encounter in their academic career. watchful 70 from this, however… it’s not that you’ve lost those things, or that you suddenly don’t know, say, how to make your way through the Forgotten Quarter. Instead, you’re de-synchronizing yourself with the waking reality and bringing yourself more in line with Mr Eaten. You’re still in the Forgotten Quarter and you know your way around, but your mind wanders for just a moment because you see a candle and suddenly you’re lost. Or you’re taking notes on Corpsecage Island when- is that a well? dating from the First City Era, my, back then did it have the same resonance as it did after the Feast? Watchful is kind of a fuzzy quality representing a large number of qualities of mind, but basically I think that this represents a whole new host of tantalizing Mr Eaten-related distractions which the character now has to overcome.
Oh shoot that’s actually fascinating. Not that one’s perception is worse, but rather that one struggles to perceive what one used to.
I haven’t delved too far into the Mr. Eaten storyline yet but I have an inkling of what’s going in just from clues in Fallen London paired with knowledge of certain things in Sunless Sea. It’s certainly brimming with possibility for awfulness.
A wellspring of terrible, if you will.
