He told me that people were meant to improve and not to simply accept the shitty situation that you are in.

My attitude.

Basically a mess. I a had shitty outlook on life. Completely gave up on myself. Thought I’d probably just get a job as a cashier at some fast food chain.

So yeah that was pretty much me 6-7 months ago? And then I spoke to friends, mentors, my counsellor and basically people I felt that I could trust. 

A particular person I spoke to really got me thinking and this person’s advice really helped me to change my attitude. It was my teacher from church whom I’ll address as N in this long story thingy. (I’m catholic so we have Sunday Classes aka catechism classes till you get confirmed)

So N is this really nice and caring teacher who will treat the class to pizza if we pester him long enough. He also makes an effort to check up on us although we have ‘graduated’ from catechism class. So I was texting him at the end of last year and he was asking about my results and I told him it was a complete mess. My results were like a preview of how hell would look. He then went into some deep ass conversation that got me completely questioning my life.

N didn’t do well in primary school and so he did his N levels which means 5 years of secondary school, after which he went to poly before going into NUS which is like the dream university for the many people who live in Singapore. He achieved what many believed to be impossible. He told me that people were meant to improve and not to simply accept the shitty situation that you are in. If you don’t do well you don’t just sit there and accept the fact that you’re gonna get a shitty job and live a shitty life.

You came into this world not because your parents were horny that one day and had you. You came because you can make a difference. It’s up to you if you’re gonna work hard and decide your future for yourself. You may not be good at everything, but you will be good at something. A simple example, Donald Trump, he’s a good businessman. You can hate him but he is a good businessman and we cannot deny that fact. Everyone has something they’re good at. It’s up to themselves if they’re gonna use it to their benefit. If you ever feel like you’re shit, know that everyone will feel like shit at some point in their lives. But you can change that.

I changed. I got myself to believe that I could do well in school. That there was hope in such a dark time for me. That I could do whatever I wanted to as long as I put in enough effort. And now, I have improved in my academics and in my mental and emotional health. Once you get something together, usually the other things will slowly start to piece together. You feel more whole. Your goal isn’t that far away anymore. Things seem more achievable. That’s what can happen when you change your attitude to the things around you. I can assure you that you too can improve!

as a student, what is your daily skincare routine? I simply can't find time to care for my face... :/

Hello and thank you for being my first ask!!

First, you may or may not know but I’m currently using Dr Belmeur products (The Face Shop). So I use all that in the morning. Cleanser, toner, moisturiser and the ato salt cream (I use the ato salt cream once every two days). And then I’ll add a layer of sunscreen on top of all of that. I’m currently using the Phyto Aqua Water Sun Base (Beyond)

At night, I cleanse, toner, moisturise but i won’t use the salt cream and then i just go to sleep.

Every Saturday night I’ll spend more time and do an even longer routine.

I’ll use the Dr Belmeur cleanser (The Face Shop), then I’ll exfoliate. I’m currently using the Black Sugar Mask Wash Off (Skinfood). Then I use the Dr Belmeur toner (The Face Shop) and then I use a sheet mask (innisfree) I’ll then use eye cream. I’m using the Royal Honey Eye Cream (Skinfood). And then use the Dr Belmeur moisturiser (The Face Shop) and the Dr Belmeur ato salt cream (The Face Shop).

From now on, every two weeks, I’ll do the blackhead thing (check my latest post for that) so it’s a long ass process but hey, to maintain my okay skin I’ll do anything.

So yeah that’s my routine, kinda long but you get used to it. And like even if you’re lazy don’t forget to do all this because it’s really gonna help you with your complexion and all that. Also if you do use makeup it’s important to have a nice clean canvas to work on so keeping the face clean is always priority!!

Dr. Belmeur Line

First review ish 

So TheFaceShop released a new line aka DR. BELMEUR LINE which I tried and honestly it’s one of the best line of skincare that I’ve used.

I’m currently using the cleanser, toner, moisturizer and the ato salt cream.

This is basically what is included in the Dr. Belmeur starter kit.

This line caters to those with dry and sensitive skin or for sebum care, oil and moisture balance. For those with dry and sensitive skin, the daily repair range is for you! and for sebum care, oil and moisture balance, the clarifying range is for you. The products in the pictures above are for daily repair and are fragrance free. (Is that right? Fragrance free.....)

!! The Dr. Belmeur daily repair foam cleanser is different from the bubble foam cleanser simply because bubbles do not immediately come out of this tube. The line does actually have the bubble foam cleanser but when you get the starter kit, the mousse type of cleanser is what is given. I won’t say that this cleanser is worse than the bubble foam cleanser but it’s really a preference kind of thing. (I’m a bubble foam cleanser kind of girl)

!! to me, the best thing about this line is the Ato salt cream which contains 8% dead sea salt. This cream provides deeper moisture for dry skin which is something I really really need. 

The whole line is really like a gift from god. I do not have issues with acne and it has become a struggle to find good skincare that is really suitable for me so this is greatt!! This may or may not work as well for your skin as it will always be different for everyone but do give this a try!
