So, a lot of stuff has been going on lately in my life and it's keeping me from being able to be quite as active as I was. Mostly, it's a lot of friend things that are affecting me really bad. Not anything I want to share, just for her sake, but yeah.

Castiel often founds humans confusing.  His own thinking and speech were more literal than theirs was.  He also noticed that they would make references to fictional things that he was unfamiliar with.  He just nodded at Rory’s response and let the subject drop.

"Their infection is not a natural plague," Castiel said.  He turned toward Rory.  "I am going to follow them and see where they are going.  You are welcome to join me.  If they attack, they will likely target me.  Just allow me to take care of it.  I prefer not to kill them if I don’t have to."

Rory let out a little breathy chuckle at Castiel's statement. "Of course not, mate. I'm a nurse. I think I'd know if this was some sort of normal infectious disease." He allowed a small smile that wasn't returned. For some reason he couldn't bring himself to be surprised by that fact. As he listened to the rest of Castiel's statement he decided that he was definitely sticking with the weird man. Maybe together they could find his friends or Rory's friends. Or maybe even both at the same time. That would be nice. Problem was they had to make sure they didn't get infected as well first.

"Sure, mate. Right behind you." He nodded and allowed Castiel to take a bit of the lead. "I used to have this device that helped cure them..." He glanced up the road where he'd left the fried sonic. "But I ran into a... Um, well, I think he was anything but a friend." He shuddered a little at the reminder of the electric shocks he'd been given. He just shook it off, glad he was away now. "But still. I promise to try and only defend. Not injure or kill."

Rory quickly followed after him, pulling up next to him and holding his sword tight. He preferred the slightly weird man over crazy time lords and infected people any day. “Where do you last remember seeing your friends? I might be able to help with directions. I’m a tiny bit familiar with the area.” He prided himself in the fact that he knew his way around most of England. Or at least the major landmarks. He had always wanted to travel with Amy. That was, until he met the Doctor.

"You’re not from here, are you? You’ve got an American accent." Rory was simply curious. He stared at the strange man, trying to make sense of him. Which he supposed was a little silly, considering his life recently.

Castiel frowned.  ”They have changed their locations and I cannot sense where they are.  They are hidden from me,” he said offering the best explanation he could.  ”I tried to contact them, but the voice informed me that I was out of minutes.”

Castiel cocked his head and looked at Rory for a moment.  ”I am not from here.  Does my American accent disconcert you?  I can alter it.  My friends are also American, I have spent most of my time with them there.”  he frowned and looked around.  ”I think something is changing.”

"Oh." Rory responded in reply to whatever Castiel was saying about his friends. He wasn't completely sure what the odd man was trying to say, but then he was on accents and Rory quickly shook his head. "No, I don't mind, I was just saying. I-" He trailed off, head spinning at the way Castiel changed subject so fast.

He followed Castiel's gaze, trying to see what he was seeing. "The infected? They-..." He tilted his head a little, noticing they weren't attacking like he'd been expecting. "Are acting very strange," he admitted, staring at the Croats.

The Trickster pushed once more through the Employee door, then stopped and peered through the slightly-scratched window at the two young men. They both looked delightfully uncomfortable, if for somewhat opposite reasons.

The cooks here were skilled and quick, soon producing two steaming plates of apparently delicious English fare. Not enough sweetness for a trickster to subsist on, but salt and grease were certified hunter fuel. Who was he to argue? Not that they would have long to enjoy it. The waitress soon had food to deliver, which she transferred to a tray and quickly brought back to the diners. She gently placed Rory’s fish and chips on the table before him, smiling as she bid him to enjoy his meal. Dean’s hamburger and chips were set down quickly, almost like an afterthought, as she parted again without another glance at him. She could almost hear the air hissing out of his twice-punctured ego. The Trickster didn’t hurry back to the kitchen, since the real fun would soon begin. Right about now… A shriek erupted from the kitchen. She quickened pace and shoved through the door, avoiding the other employees as they gathered around the source of the panic. Unhindered, she made it to the back exit and escaped through it, the last thing she heard from the diner being one of the staff shouting “it’s Jill in the closet! She’s dead!” Jill, eh? Funny, that’s my name! The Trickster removed “her” name badge and dropped it on the ground. A few paces away he peeked behind the dumpster, quickly stowing the waitress costume next to a still fresh-looking pile of goopy discarded skin. Assuming these two losers can think that fast, they’ll catch up soon. Before this sir and/or madam makes too many additional contributions to the morgue, isn’t that how it goes? That work done, he quickly assumed the guise of a random suited pedestrian and stepped unnoticed out into the street.

Dean grunted in something that passed as thanks as he took another swig from Rory’s drink, scooting the ‘tea’ towards Rory for him to choke down. The waitress, ‘Jill’, her tag said, set down his plate before Dean could even manage a good smile. Eh. Lost cause anyway. He decided avoiding Rory’s eyes for another minute was the best way of dealing with the rejection. Besides, the food they’d gotten looked pretty good, almost steaming, and Dean could feel himself salivating at the smell. With an appreciative grip, Dean lifted the burger to his mouth, and—

A violent scream sliced through any hopes Dean had of a good meal. He cursed, putting it down and wiping his hands angrily on his jeans. Practically used to this kind of shit, Dean spared a ‘god fucking damn it, we better be ready to kill something’ glance to Rory, which in hindsight he might not have understood. Usually Sam was the person on the receiving end of that look. Regardless of who was where, Dean got up and slipped a hand discreetly into his jacket to feel for his knives. Thankfully, both were in place, and while he didn’t want to scare anyone by whipping one out yet, he was at the ready. The civilian screaming and general plate-dropping cacophony that came exclusively from a death in a diner only intensified when someone cried out that Jill had died. “Shit,” Dean cursed, looking to Rory in hopes that he had noticed the nameplate earlier. While the toys and candy canes hadn’t fit the story, the double name and dead waitress conformed perfectly. Dean didn’t waste time worrying about the conflict and bustled quickly through the diner, shouldering past frightened customers. They could check the security tape, just to be sure, and do the smart thing, but… Shit, people were in danger. It couldn’t be too far. 

"Rory?" Dean barked, remembering to keep him close. There hadn’t been much time between when the body was discovered and when their waitress had disappeared. The shifter was going to have to shift, soon, and they needed to get moving. Adrenaline just beginning to flow through his veins, Dean grabbed at Rory’s elbow and hauled him along through the exit. "You notice anything weird about our waitress?" Besides her apparent lack of taste, Dean thought bitterly. He personally hadn’t seen her eyes flash, but after getting snubbed he’d kinda stopped looking. Damnit.

Rory smirked at Dean, rolling his eyes. He'd heard all the typical 'American' stereotypes, but he'd never thought them believable.He hid his smile behind a chip, chewing slowly and letting his eyes trail to the people outside as he tried to decide what to talk about. Then there was a scream and he jumped, quickly scrambling to his feet when he saw Dean doing so.

As he jogged behind Dean he tried to make sure that no one else was hurt or being hurt. If anyone called for a doctor he could at least help a little before a real doctor could arrive. Speaking of, he expected a certain Doctor to be popping in the door at any moment. Then he heard Dean's voice call his name and he quickened his pace, allowing Dean to pull him outside.

He was already panting, but he was excited and ready for an adventure. He glanced around at the people outside when they were in the alley and shook his head at Dean. "No. I mean, I was really trying /not/ to notice her, honestly. Married!" He sung the last word, pointing pointedly toward his wedding ring. "But, other than the fact she can't see the band, no. I thought she was perfectly normal until it turned out she was dead. Oh hey!" He shouted, pointing to the trash cans across from them. "There's that, uh, goop again..." He wrinkled his nose and looked down at his shirt.

Castiel nodded and with a very serious expression said, “Your armor will not protect you from this plague.”  He cocked his head and frowned.  ”It would not protect you from any plague, but especially not this one.”  He nodded once.

Castiel sighed. “Come with me. You’ll be safer that way.  I’m attempting to locate some friends of mine so we can take care of this.”  He gave the human a look.  ”No, you aren’t a threat to me.”  He shoved his hands in his pockets and turned to continue searching the town.
