My experience as a Girl Gamer
Thought I’d write a little about gaming when it comes to being a girl. If you are a girl gamer yourself, then I’m sure you know how it is. It’s certainly not fun!
You must endure quite a lot, especially if you are playing CS:GO, etc. Most guys don’t have a brain at all and talk like they don’t own one when they realize they are playing with or against a girl, just to piss them off. I probably won’t ever understand why they are so idiotic nor will I ever be okay with some of the comments I get. At times, I wonder if they have ever talked to a girl before. They act like it’s a crisis! You know what? It’s not the end of the world to find out you’re in a game with or against a girl. God, it’s not like we are actually different then you guys, is it? Anyone can play the game and everyone can become good at it. Although CS is a ‘’typical boys’’ game, there are a bunch of girls who actually play it.
I am actually getting a bit annoyed by just thinking of the crap people have tossed me. Yes, over time, those comments are collectively reflected and I care less about it but that doesn’t mean its okay. At least not when it comes to sexual harassment, etc. When a kid that’s 18-20yr old behaves like a 12yr old, there is something wrong.
I, like many other girls, spend some time gaming. I have countless hours on CS. and lets not talk about how many hours I’ve spent on WoW, CoD, etc, combined. You’ll always come across people who say the typical joke “Go back to the kitchen” and think they’re hilarious. The kitchen? REALLY!? Don’t come to me and say that boys don’t use the kitchen. You’re going to have to say something nasty if you want to make us feel miserable. So come up with something MUCH better than that. I don’t see the fun in that joke anymore. Sharpen up!
So, girls, If you are just getting started with gaming or something similar, just shit on all those annoying little boys who think they are awesome by throwing some shitty comments!
They have absolutely nothing to say about you. The chances you’ll meet them again are small. So stand up for yourself!
I’ll tell you the funniest thing I know when it comes to gaming. Most guys have a pretty big ego. If they don’t realize that I’m a girl and give me shit, I’ll reply nonetheless. I don’t talk back at them in a mean way, I talk to them and try to make them understand that girls can actually be better than them AND to get their f***ing ego down. It’s an amazing feeling to turn their ego down a notch.
I’m not saying ALL the guys give shit. I actually encountered some people who are incredibly nice and I love to meet new people that make it possible to play games without being judged and without getting shit from them. So, guys, please act mature when you meet girls in games. Don’t sink so low to the point that you’re automatically better than them.
Now, I think I’ve said everything I wanted to say about this topic. I just felt the need to do so because I’m getting a little tired of getting shit and negative comments thrown at because I think its possible to behave a little when you sit down for a game and have fun :)
