It’s relatively popular so you might have already, but in case you haven’t:

If you like BNHA / Boku No Hero Academia / My Hero Academia then you should definitely watch Tiger and Bunny

It’s the spiritual 2011 precursor to BNHA in that it is a modern, self-aware, intelligent play on the superhero genre with a cast of unique and likeable characters and interesting world building.

It’s basically the world of BNHA but in reverse. When I first watched BNH I said “this is literally Tiger and Bunny but with school children and more powers”. Tiger and Bunny is like BNHA but with a cast of adults instead of teens.

People with powers are called NEXT, they make up a small percentage of the population, were seen as anomalies and hated until a man decided to make them into reality TV show stars and profit off broadcasting their heroism. Now superheroes are superstars, and the anime was funded specifically by ad revenue for REAL companies that they have on their suits, but with an in-universe explanation. Clever.

The main character is Izuku Midoriya if Midoriya were a hot dad.

Not kidding.

The main character is Kotetsu AKA Wild Tiger, who’s the only hero who seems to truly believe in real heroism instead of the capitalism it feeds. Though people at first think he’s outdated and idealistic and a little stupid, everyone in the cast is basically in love with him by the end of season 1, and he’s inspired all of his fellow heroes, ESPECIALLY his partner, the prettyboy Batman Iron Man pastiche, Barnaby (who Kotetsu nicknamed Bunny), with whom Kotetsu shares a superpower.

There are lots of other great cast members too, INCLUDING A SUCCESSFUL AND WELL-LOVED QUEER CHARACTER WHO HAS AN EMOTIONAL CHARACTER ARC IN ONE OF THE FILMS

The plot of Tiger and Bunny follows Tiger being paired up with Barnaby after his own agency goes bankrupt. Barnaby, meanwhile, is the only superhero without a secret identity, who’s actively looking for the man who murdered his parents. A man who’s literally The Joker. He even has a Harley Quinn.

THEY EVEN HAVE A KILLER WHO BELIEVES HEROES ARE HYPOCRITES AND NO TRUE HEROISM EXISTS ANYMORE EXCEPT IN ONE PERSON AND ALL FALSE HEROES NEED TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON. SOUND FAMILIAR?

You may also have noticed the ridiculous number of BL / Yaoi doujin dedicated to this anime and its two main characters. Which is actually how I got to watching the anime in the first place. Because they’re all really ridiculously beautiful.

Which is unsurprising considering their relationship, which half the creators have stated can be read as romantic.

But it sadly isn’t shown to be onscreen. Yet. Maybe one day.

It’s two seasons long plus a couple of movies (the movies have a different art style but are still mostly worth watching), and there have been teases of films and a third season recently with the still ongoing success of superhero shows, including BNHA.

IN SUMMARY: WATCH THIS SHOW. IT’S VERY GOOD. THE DUB IS ALSO EXCELLENT, ONE OF THE BEST.

I want a scene in season six where Keith is still gone and voltron is fighting some crazy intense and important battle and then suddenly red starts acting strange—and Lance realizes it’s because somewhere, somehow, Keith is in trouble. And he goes “guys, I think red is trying to tell me something! Something bad—Keith may be in danger!” And not-himself-Shiro is like “Lance, stay in formation, we need you here, Keith can take care of himself” and they get into this massive argument that basically ends with Shiro saying “don’t you dare go” and lance groaning out of frustration because despite how much he shouldn’t, he knows he has to. Because…it’s Keith.

So he makes a frustrated noise and turns away from the battle, saying “i can’t! I gotta help him!” And ignores everyone yelling that he’s making a huge mistake.

Red leads him to whatever horrific place Keith is trapped in and when they see each other Keith looks up with huge, glassy eyes and he’s like “…Lance?”

And lance goes “I’m going to get you out of here, but you need to trust me.”

And Keith kind of just nods, the shock on his face kind of melting into something softer and goes “You know I do.”

Scrubland/Dry Forests. For extra effect make them the sort that burn very often; some native plants never germinate until after a fire, and some animals not only rely on fire to smoke out prey, but may even start them themselves.

Don’t just accept the new Terms of Service

Tumblr’s at it again, thanks to the new European Privacy Laws. There’s probably nobody who will read this, but it pissed me off so much that I decided to make a post about it. (Ignore the weird language mish-mash, depending on your country the language might differ.)

OK, so many of us get this screen when we try to access our dash:

Realise how the ‘OK’ button is a nice, attention-grabbing blue? If you’re like me, you’re not exactly into reading a 100 pages document and tend to just click it.

My tip? DONT. Instead click on ‘Manage Options’ right next to it:

Now you’ll see this page:

Still pretty harmless, right? That ‘Accept’ button is looking really attractive right now. Instead, click on Verwalten (Probably something like ‘Manage Options’ or something in english) and you’ll get to this page:

Now that’s not too bad, right? I just switched all the buttons to ‘off’, because I’m jealously guarding my personal information and don’t want Tumblr to go off and do who knows what with it. Looks like we’re done! But wait: There’s a SHOW option.

When we click on that one, what we will get is this:

A HUGE list with OVER 300 ENTRIES of companies that can use your data by default if you’d just clicked ‘OK’ on that very first page. Coincidence that this list is hidden that much? Me thinks not. They’re all switched on by default, but I am still a petty bitch that doesn’t want to give out her data, so I switched them all off. All 300+ of them. There is no option to switch them all off at once, and even if you disable all the options above, the companies are still switched on.

(If you wonder how i got that number, I copied the list into excel and looked at the cell number. No way am I actually counting all those entries)

This is good, and while you’re at it, I strongly encourage you to install the EFF’s Privacy Badger browser extension while you’re at it, which automatically blocks connections to known tracking systems without you needing to do a thing! And don’t forget to install a good adblocker!

Nobody’s being stupid here, except Tumblr! I welcome all of you into my cave filled with pettiness over privacy agreement violations. We can roast marshmallows and drink hot cocoa, but only over an electric grill, actual barbecuing is forbidden in my building.

Okay, here we go:

1.This seems to be an European thing. I don’t know if the same options have been implemented for folks from other areas, but comments suggest not. I recommend to still check your privacy settings and the ‘Labs’ section to make sure Tumblr didn’t secretly introduce and switch on any options you’re uncomfortable with. (Here’s a couple of links, I havent read them all myself so quality might be questionable X the law itself X )

2. A problem many people (including myself) have run into is that the whole changing settings isn’t working as it should - the options switch themselves back on, as soon as you leave the screen. Even when you’ve clicked the nice ‘Done’ button at the bottom. NOT COOL TUMBLR.

3. Privacy add-ons are always a good idea. I use Ghostery to block trackers, but unfortunately, those have their limits as well. Corporations are money-grabbing and greedy.

4. The whole ‘U want something for free you need to give ur data’ thing - I am aware that Tumblr needs to pay its bills somehow. But the sheer amount of companies the user data is sold to is ridiculous and completely out of proportion, holy shit!

5. Tumblr is apparently still changing things and switching the location of the settings menu for this around, so this might not work forever.

If you accidentally agreed beforehand, want to disable the bazillion options and don’t mind that Tumblr might switch them back on, here’s how you can do that:

Go to Settings -> Privacy Settings -> Disable Cookie Consent

Cookie Consent is mandatory to use Tumblr, but if you switch it off, you should be transfered to the privacy settings page mentioned above.

The Cookie Consent will switch itself back on automatically.

( It’s in German, but it should look pretty similar in other languages!)

While you’re at it, check the Labs section, sometimes Tumblr introduces experimental functions that are pretty shitty concerning privacy as well.

The whole uncheck business is just a play, a game, a TRICK to make you think you have any kind of control over your data!

What the fuck tumblr?!?!!? Then don’t give us the option to uncheck the boxes.

Just tell us fair and square that our only option to stop you from giving our data away, is NOT using your platform AT ALL.

(And yes I tried to uncheck a few, to see what happens, but nope. ALL of em is checked again. there is no choice here. You have NO CHOICE.)

They are just listing up where they are giving your data away if you use the site.
