You stare at yourself in the mirror. You’re obsessing over your flaws and feel the self-loathing for not being an image of perfection. The first thing you observe is the skin tags on your neck; you were prone to them as a child. You didn’t think much of them then, except when the adults in your life pointed out how many you had and that they needed to be something that shouldn’t be on your body. Your hair was too short for you to cover them up. Did he think your haircut was too boyish? He often comments on how adorable it looks when you style it or wear it with a beret.
You then notice your other flaws like the new scar on your right arm that’s currently healing. You burned yourself on accident trying to remove dinner from the oven. The developing scar now found a companion near a previous scar, caused by the same oven. If only you were a little more careful, but he’d never fault you for that. He’d remind you that scars are a sign of bravery and battles. You suppose you are brave after all, even the oven can’t scare you.
You’ve managed to ignore the other scars on your body. The scars on your knees are a permanent reminder of your rambunctious youth. You were adventurous then, and you didn’t fear what would happen then. However, whenever the moment you felt and scraped yourself, the scars there reminded you of how to be more cautious of the things you wanted to do. He has laughed about the things that you experienced as a little girl. You’re curious why he found this amusing, but he mentions it’s because he sees that aspect of your youth never waned. He needs that adventurous aspect in his life to help him take risks. He’s always too calculated with most of his life decisions, but he doesn’t have to contemplate matters of the heart when it’s with you.
Why did he choose you? When you spend too much time alone, you ponder what he sees in you. You contemplate the beauty he sees in you as you don’t believe that you’re conventionally attractive. You’re not very tall or thin, which already has been a point of contention for you. Over the years, crying in dressing rooms because clothes can’t fit right due to the curves in your body or having an excessively large bust. Over time, you’ve resorted to bespoke pieces; sometimes you wonder why you have to spend so much to look nice, but then, you remember the compliments that people give you for the way you put yourself together. Now you can thank your lucky stars because as you were walking to the tailor to fix a rip in the dress you own, you met the man of your dreams.
But what does this have to do with your skin tags? They’re nothing of beauty to look at; albeit you do notice something. If you connect them, they form the Big Dipper. All the little spots surrounding it are just the stars highlighting your uniqueness. It may look like an imperfection, but they’re the unique qualities that make you the one he loves. He’ll later come home and kiss you the areas near the Big Dipper; his small, tender kisses will be shaped like the Little Dipper
