How does Mindfulness and Meditation Benefit Kids:
Increased Attention: A continuous training in mindfulness may significantly reduce hyperactive behaviors and improve concentration.
Improved School Attendance: Â Schools have reported better attendance and grades, fewer suspensions, and generally happier and less aggressive kids.
A Reprieve from Outside Trauma: For kids who are dealing with major stressors at home, either in the form of chronic stress or outright trauma, meditation and mindfulness has been shown to help children by providing tools to better handle these stressors.
Better Mental Health: Meditation has been thought to benefit overall mental health in kids
Self-Awareness & Self-Regulation: Mindfulness is intimately connected to self-awareness (it’s almost the definition of it), and this extends naturally to self-regulation. Studies have found that a mindful yoga treatment helps kids improve their ability to self-regulate over the longer-term
Social Emotional Development: Kids who practice yoga, meditation and mindfulness build skills of attention, self awareness, self management leading to more responsible decision making and pro-social behavior.
