Emerald was very confused. Her body wasnât dead but, she had been forced out into another one somehow. And her body was spouting lava from everywhere.
"Oh my god what did I get myself into," she said, looking shocked, not even paying attention to what body she possessed.
When Monarch had happened upon the suffering girl, he had elected to stay back for a minute and wait for her to turn â even to someone like him, contact with the fires of immolation could cause serious damage. He was able to tell right away that she was on the brink, and, sure enough, she soon began to retch, coughing up globs of hot, liquid fire. He didnât think she had noticed him there.
Though, upon her immolation, something strange happened â it felt like taking a bullet between the eyes, a violent slam into his head as control was wrangled from him. No, he thought, feeling another existence melting through his own, feeling another consciousness pushing him aside â fear struck like a violent bolt of lightning, resounding in every inch of him. No. No. No. .
âwhat the ?â he shouted, desperately trying to stop what he thought was happening â his mouth didnât move, nothing moved to his command, but his body was trembling with fear. He was no longer sure if that fear was his own.
In front of him, the fire subsided, leaving behind a crouched, quivering entity. He wouldâve killed it, but he still couldnât move, he was panicking, didnât want to go, didnât want to stop existing â and he didnât.
But someone else had invaded his brain.Â
Emerald turned, in Monarch's body, to look around, at her surroundings. "Oh uh, sorry, and uh... Hi!" she said internally, to the other inhabiting this body. Â "I'm Emerald, and uh... sorry for taking over your body," she said.
