OMG! BABY SUO!
God he looks so annoyed. And look at him with his little medical eyepatch instead of the leather one!
ALSO not Tsugera glossing over the fact that Suo is genuinely showing negative emotions so visibly.
Suo desperately pushing the class rep role onto Sakura in the early chapters is so much funnier now like when everyone was expecting him to be the obvious choice he took one look at Sakura and said oh thank god. a sacrifice
Suo: you have to learn to ask for help and to be vulnerable and trust those around you.
Suo: not me tho, I'm different.
So accurate!
Things to consider when Writing about Schools/Academies!!
ā¹ What is this school actuallyĀ for. training mages? knights? spies? just normal education? because "prestigious academy" means nothing if you don't know what they're prestigious at
ā¹ Who gets in and how. is it merit based, do you have to be rich, legacy admissions, secret tests, random selection, born with the right abilities. what happens to kids who don't make the cut
ā¹ What's the age range. are these literal children or young adults or mixed ages. because a school with 11 year olds has very different problems than one with 18 year olds
ā¹ How strict is it. prison vibes with tons of rules? pretty chill? different rules for different student groups (which is unfair and causes drama)?
ā¹ What are the social hierarchies. obviously there are cliques but what are they based on. wealth? power level? what year you're in? family name? talent?
ā¹ What happens if you fail or get expelled. are you just sent home in shame or is it worse. do people sometimes not survive the training. how often do students drop out or disappear
ā¹ Who are the teachers and why are they teaching. washed up former heroes? people who never left? actually passionate educators? suspicious people using it as a cover? mix of all of them probably
ā¹ What's forbidden. certain magic, certain areas of campus, relationships between students, leaving grounds, specific books/knowledge. and obviously your protagonist will break these rules
ā¹ How do students get sorted/grouped. houses? teams? specializations? randomly? and do these groups have rivalries because they should
ā¹ What's the curriculum actually like. is it actually useful or are they learning weird outdated stuff. are there classes that are just covers for something else. what are the hardest classes
ā¹ Where is this school located. isolated castle? middle of a city? pocket dimension? floating island? does it move? can students leave or are they stuck there
ā¹ What traditions does the school have. tournaments, festivals, hazing rituals (the dark kind), graduation ceremonies, weird old customs nobody questions
ā¹ Is there corruption in the faculty/administration. favoritism, taking bribes, secret agendas, covering up student deaths, embezzling, working for the villain
ā¹ What's the diversity situation. is it segregated somehow (by class, species, magic type)? integrated but with tension? do some groups face discrimination from staff or other students?
ā¹ What happens outside of classes. clubs? underground fight rings? secret societies? banned parties? students sneaking out? romantic drama?
ā¹ Why is your protagonist specifically there. chosen one nonsense? hiding from something? forced to attend? actually wants to learn? found out they have powers and got dragged there confused?

Quick tips for Writing Villains!!
ā A villain who thinks they're the hero is scarier than one who knows they're evil.
ā Give them something they love. It makes everything worse.
ā Their logic should make sense, even if their actions don't.
ā The best villains don't monologue. They ask questions.
ā Not every villain needs a tragic backstory. Some people are just hungry for power.
ā Let them win sometimes. Repeatedly, it raises the stakes.
ā A villain who is polite is more unsettling than one who screams.
ā They should change the hero just as much as the hero changes them.
ā Give them a genuine friendship or loyalty somewhere. It humanizes without excusing.
ā The scariest thing a villain can do is be right about something.
ā Not every villain needs to die. Some walk away. Some become allies. Some just... disappear.
ā A villain with a sense of humor is dangerous because you almost like them.
I will never let AI touch my art, even as it becomes more and more prevalent in todayās society. I like to think that every part of the process, from coming up with the ideas to handwriting all the words, is special because itās coming from me. Writing Prompt
Write a story set in the year 2926.
America and Chinese were fighting Wars, throwing bombs, digital weapons, and man-made plagues to determine who is gonna take over the world...
But No one expected, that this one little country who has always been overlooked and underestimated would reach the last stage of developing that one secret project which non of the big countries succeeded to make, for the past 10 centuries, and now it's finally time.
To make everyone else kneel before them.

Badly Injured Hero Sidekick Shows up at Villain's Base to Beg for Help part 80
Warnings: talk of past trauma, mention of past failed suicide attempt, little bit fluffier than usual
Okay, I have had SEVERAL anons in my inbox ask for the same thing, so here -- I finally made it a reality! :D (You'll know what I mean when you read it, anons -- I'm not spoiling it in advance)
HUGEEEEE SHOUTOUT TO MY LEGENDARY BETA READER, @lorelaiclairinssss. They were literally THE BIGGEST HELP ever, and even wrote a significant portion of this chapter and the next themself to which I merely added to to finalize it, using theirs as the basic structure and dialogue points.
This literally would not, and I mean WOULD NOT have been possible without their help and feedback. So thank you, lorelai! You are AWESOME! I am ecstatic with how well this turned out after all your feedback and assistance!
Medic nodded, a slight frown on her lips at the sudden shift in mood. But she followed Villain as he led the way down the hall, leaving everyone else on their own.
A hush settled over her when she stepped through the door of his bedroom with him, her eyes met with the undeniably anxious mess that Villain was when he turned to face her.
Hands wringing his knuckles raw.
Eyes that suddenly didnāt quite meet hers anymore.
Mouth preoccupied with trying to chew a hole through the inside of his cheek.
But why?
Something was very wrong.
āAre you⦠okay?ā Medic said, closing the door behind her and blocking out all noise from the rest of the hideout.
āYes,ā Villain responded flatly; but she noticed the way his Adam's apple bobbed in his throat, all the tendons visibly tight as he struggled to keep himself calm.
Medic didnāt need to be a truth teller to see through a lie that poorly disguised.
āVil.ā She stepped towards him, putting on the softest tone she had; a tone she only ever used when he was like this.
Only then did Villain look up.
āYou know, if somethingās bothering you, you can talk to me,ā she reminded tenderly, watching the way his face shifted into what resembled a slightly more peaceful version of himself.
āI know,ā Villain agreed, voice clipped. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and said nothing more.
The question on Medicās tongue was burning, burning, burning, but she didnāt prompt him again, for fear of prying. Gave him time to choose his own words.
Writer friends: how do you name your characters?
Do you use placeholders before coming up with something better? Do you have a system? A website you use?
Sometimes, like with my character Chord, the name shows up in my head before the rest of the story. But other times I struggle with it and I have to go to my favorite website fantasy name generator dot com which has a massive randomized database of thousands of different names from all over. (And! It does NOT use AI, it has existed since before the rise of AI)
