The one with the adopted daughter
(Rachel Green x adopted daughter!reader, Amy Green x daughter!reader)
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Today was the day. It was Saturday and i was pacing non stop around the apartment that me and Pheobe had all to ourselves.
Pheobe had been able to convince Monica to leave for a while and take mom with her.
I had decided to wear an outfit that aunt Amy had mailed to me on my birthday since i was seeing her in a couple of hours.
Amy never really visited me on my birthday but she always seemed to remember to mail a present and a card for me to open which was kind to say the least.
“So, today’s the day,” Pheobe starts, handing me a smoothie that she had used Monica’s blender to make, “How are you feeling?”
“Nervous.” I say before taking a sip of my drink.
“Well you are going to make yourself even more nervous if you keep pacing like that sweetie.” She grabs ahold of both of my arms and leads me to the couch.
“I know, i know. Its just- what if we’ve got this wrong and this was actually all for nothing.” I panic.
“(Y/n), you’re a smart person ok? I don’t think that it will be very hard for you to figure out.”
I continue to drink my smoothie, giving small nods at the things Pheobe says.
Amy doesn’t even talk to mom that much. So, if i have gotten this all wrong then i could probably convince her to pretend that the interaction never even happened.
As soon as i had finished my drink i checked the time and realised that i had 10 minutes to be outside the apartment blocks. I went into my room and grabbed one of my coats and my bag.
Pheobe gave me a hug before i opened the door to leave, “Good luck, and don’t worry I will cover for you.”
I walked out and shut the door, unfortunately bumping into Joey and Chandler as they were leaving their apartment as well as me.
“Well hello there (Y/n),” Chandler looks at me, “So, where are you going in a rush like that?”
“Oh! Im just going to do some clothes shopping. Yeah! Just clothes shopping.” I say unconvincingly.
“Oh don’t play with us little Rachel, where are you going this time?” Joey speaks up.
Hold on, this time? It’s not like i casually meet up with a possible birth mother every day.
“Well for your information, I’m not lying and Pheobe said that she would tell mom where i am going when they get back.”
“Well-“ Joey starts to speak again, so i push past both of them and speed walk away.
“Hey we’re not done with you!” Chandler shouts.
“Yeah well i am.” I mumbled.
I walked down the stairs and left the block, the cool New York air coming into contact with my face.
When i looked around i saw the one and only Amy Green leaning against a wall, looking right back at me and motioning to come over to her.
I took a deep breathe and walked over to her, “Aunt Amy!”
I swear that i could almost see her wince slightly.
I gave her a hug and she tensed, so i just let go of her.
“Hey kid,” She greeted, “So how are you?”
“I’m ok i guess.” I shrugged.
“I booked a table at a restaurant that is not far from here.” She told me.
We left the apartment block and started to walk to whatever place Amy had decided to book.
“How are you doing?” I ask her.
“Im doing alright (Y/n).” She answered me awkwardly.
We were silent for a while before she spoke up again.
“I still don’t understand why you were so keen to meet up with me this soon.”
I fake a laugh, “Am i not allowed to see one of my favourite aunts?”
Ok, so that may be a lie, but i am desperate for answers and Amy may be able to give them to me.
“One of your favourite aunts huh? You barely know anything about me.”
“That is not true!” Oh it so is.
“You don’t have to lie to me.”
Wow, ‘lie’ really does seem to be the word of the day here.
“I know that you and mom don’t talk that much meaning that you miss out on seeing your amazing niece.”
“Mom says i am.” I whine.
“Speaking of your mom, how are you getting along with her?” She asks.
“Not the best right now if im honest, we’ve been arguing a lot but Aunt Pheobe has been helping me through it.”
“The giddy blonde girl?” She refers to Pheobe making me scowl at her annoyingly.
Im about to answer but i notice that we have arrived at the place Amy told me about. We went in and Amy told them that she had a reservation, waiting impatiently to be seated.
After we get seated and order our drinks, Amy continued with what she was saying before.
“So you’re happy with Rachel right?”
“Of course,” I see her frown slightly so i quickly say, “But i would really like to know more about my birth mother.”
I see her frown turn into a small smile.
Well, its now or never (Y/n). It’s like I can almost hear Pheobe’s loud voice in my head.
“Hey, did you know her by any chance?” I casually mention.
Her face pales again. “Why would you even think that?”
“It was just an interest but if you don’t then it is okay.” I try my best to not sound disappointed.
“You know, i knew that this day would come.” She says quietly.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“It was only a matter of time before your curiosity got the best of you.”
I wanted to say more but the waiter comes up with our drinks and to order all our food.
“I’ll have this please.” Amy points to a dish on the menu after she takes our drinks and puts them on the table.
“Yeah, I’ll have that as well please.” I smile and the waiter nods, walking away from us.
“You like that meal?” Amy asks.
“Of course! But i don’t eat it often, mom can’t stand it.”
This makes me smile as i remember something that happened when i was younger, which was when me and Aunt Monica secretly made the meal whilst mom was asleep.
She gives me a genuine laugh, “Rachel couldn’t stand it when we were younger either!”
After that, Amy started to open herself up more and realised that we actually had a lot more in common than she thought that we did.
The waiter came back and gave us our meals.
“See, now we know more things about eachother.” I tell her.
She doesn’t say anything, instead she looks at me as if she is reliving a certain memory.
She then turns silent for a couple of minutes, trying to eat her food quickly. I start to eat again as well, looking at her every once in a while.
She looks up at me at the same time and meets my eyes, “I can’t do this.” She puts her fork down and puts her hands over her face.
“Are you alright Amy?” I ask as i get out of my seat and come to her side of the table.
“I can’t- I can’t do this.” She looks at me, “When i look at you, all i can see is an improved version of my younger self. You are exactly how i wished i was when i was your age.”
Was she confirming being my mom? I knew i shouldn’t jump to conclusions so quick, i need to hear the words from her.
“Aunt Amy-“ I start but she continues to ramble.
“I thought i could avoid this, i thought i could avoid you. But the more i get to know about you, the more i wish that i was the one who raised you.”
‘This is the perfect time to bring up the papers that me and Pheobe found.’ I thought to myself.
“Amy,” I started, “There’s a reason why i was so desperate to see you. And well i- well you see i-“ I stuttered.
“Please continue.” She whispered.
“I found some papers the other day and they said that you were my birth mom,” her eyes widened and she gasped, “Or there is just another completely different person whose name just so happens to be ‘Amy Green’.”
I try to make a joke but i know that my jokes are the last things on her mind right now.
“I just need to know ok?” Well here it goes.
“Are you my biological mom Amy Green?”
I can see the tears that she is trying to hold back.
