"why do you tell me to go to a website that doesn't work :/" and then it doesn't work because they clicked on the "translate everything wrong" button and half the instructions are hidden by ads because they refuse to use an ad blocker
some dads will go "oh i don't understand why my daughter spends so much time and money on removing her leg hair, i know she hates doing that so why does she do it, it's not even visible, i don't understand why she forces herself to do something she hates so much :/ also i'm saying that to her every time she does it" and think they're progressive for that, but they won't stop their wife from harassing their daughter about that leg hair, or wonder why their daughter quit the sports club she was bullied in for leg hair, or go to the pool with their daughter and see how people look at her when she has leg hair.
what ao3 needs is a third tag beyond & and /, for relationships that can be seen as either platonic or romantic or a secret third thing
fuck it i'm using the electro-bass in a fic
kinda weird to see so many people promote a "new silly cute app" without ever mentioning that it requires your first and last names (as known by google or apple), your email address, phone number, date of birth, and precise GPS location data at all times.
seven months after having written some brain teasers as a plot point in a fic, i finally found some for myself, and now i'm realizing that i wrote the character as having much more patience than me
hey guysss so unfortunately the rumors are true and im leaving the narrative. Buttt the good news is my absence will create such a gaping hole in your lives that it will become a sort of presence itself, and so in a way it will kind of be like i never left! But i am. Leaving just to be clear.
This phrase has already entered my vocabulary re: media criticism where like. The viewer has a concrete view of what they expect a story to be based on the tropes and cliches they're used to seeing together, and when that doesn't happen, they judge it as a failed depiction of what they assumed it was going to be instead of judging it as what it actually is.
"This show is problematic because the hero didn't kill the villain at the end": When does he steal the bread?
"These two characters who were close friends throughout the series don't kiss at the end! What the fuck?": When does he steal the bread?
"This feels like it's missing a conclusion! Like, the protagonist does bad stuff and because of a critical decision he makes as a result of his major character flaws, meets tragedy in the end! Where's the part where he learns better and brings is love back from the dead and becomes a good guy and gets a happy ending?": When does he steal the fucking bread??
I heard this out as "When criticizing something, you must judge it for what it is, not what it isn't"
#this is why so many of us urge people to get a wider diet of stories
there's a delicate balance between "seeing something on my dash so often i end up caring about it unexpectedly" and "seeing something on my dash so often that it gets added to the blocked list with extreme prejudice"
oh you watched a movie I recommended????? you listened to a song I told you about ?????? you read one of my favourite books ?????? do you know that I would literally kill for you ????? let's drink each others blood
pop health science is so annoying bc it'll be like "did you know? eating strawberries will give you mega cancer" and you're like pfft whatever begone influencer. but sometimes then you'll see a reasonably credible article like "Study Shows Possible Link Between Strawberries and Mega Cancer" and you're not usually the type to follow that kind of thing religiously but idk maybe you should consider not eating strawberries? but then there's another article saying "Strawberry/Mega Cancer Study Debunked" and it turns out the original study had a sample size of 3 and was funded by Big Blueberry, and strawberries may have a small connection to mega cancer but only if you are genetically predisposed to mega cancer and eat 50 strawberries every day. so you return to your strawberry eating life. but whenever you eat strawberries in public someone tells you about the mega cancer.
crazy how there are only 2 hours of doing things every day before you keel over and die. if this werent normal id be worried
planetariums, art museums, aquariums, science museums my beloved
atla just so happened to write one of the most insane and complex brother sister relationships in all of television, and yet for some reason everyone focused on zuko and azula instead, even though they are basically just normal siblings, and as such not even that interesting ..
their dynamic is more fraught and tragic than you could ever comprehend……
this☝️ is just a typical sibling interaction
katara and sokka are what happens when you are your brother’s mother and your brother also tries to be your father. you love them, you hate them, you’re half of them, you can’t stand them, you look after them, they keep you safe.
azula and zuko are both just gifted kid burnouts with a dad that only loves the winner.
#yeah when they're not trying to kill each other azula and Zuko are p normal. #katara and sokka on the other hand spent the majority of their childhood trying to raise each other #and were also the ONLY kids in their age group that they ever interacted with. #they are so. they're so. #''i don't remember what my mom looks like I just picture katara'' WHEN HE HAS HIS MOTHER'S FACE. kills me. (@professorsparklepants)
realistically there is no chance i will have time to read, imma still bring a book though
teamwork makes the dream work. and dreamwork. makes shrek
fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"
