Idk about y'all, I'm warning everyone that this is a biased take and heavily talks about Haysilee so if you hate that ship you are pretty much free to skip this (don't come at me).

I feel like if it wasn't for Haymitch constantly calling Maysilee "sis" (or the fact that they have a so-called sibling dynamic) I doubt they wouldn't be shipped by a LOT of people given how much the book showed us the DEVELOPMENT of their relationship. How they became enemies to allies to siblings friends.

Him having negative views on her character then slowly learning that there is MORE to her than being a stuck up merchant kid????

Him secretly slipping the potato bulb making kit (or whatever that was called) into her????

Their pinky promise to each other to become the worst victors (not Haymitch actually fulfilling it)?????

Her dying on him?????

(everything I pointed out doesn't necessarily need to be viewed as romantic, but imo it screams shippability)

Haymitch's relationship with LD pretty much existed on his THOUGHTS and MEMORIES. Unless they give flashbacks on the movies, I doubt we would see much about LD. (She just basically appeared in the beginning for introduction purposes and whatever the hell she did at the reaping, the call, and then the end where she dies) If the movie comes out and somehow Haymitch and Wyatt ship ended up being more popular than Hayd*ve, I'd laugh my a*rse out to their toxic shippers who keeps attacking non-canon Haymitch ships because of their stupid argument that geese mate for life when it is a biological fact that geese find other mates if theirs die.

Someone says that Zuko chose Katara to come with him in the finale as a response to that lame “he would’ve taken a bolt of lightning for anyone” argument and then it’s “he chose her because everyone else had other tasks, she was the only one that was free, and she’s a strong bender”. It’s such phenomenal levels of coping because you gotta ignore that Zuko and Katara were the first ones to make their plan, so Katara wasn’t the only one available. Literally nobody else had other missions yet. He could’ve asked Toph, who’s also a strong bender, or told Iroh to come with him instead of go to Ba Sing Se.

And then you have to ignore that Zuko set it up so that Katara wouldn’t fight. He literally agrees to the Agni Kai so that she doesn’t get hurt, and he tells her that. If he brought her along just because she’s a strong fighter, then he would’ve refused Azula’s offer and taken her on with Katara.

See I honestly never had an opinion on Haymitch x Maysilee and whether you love them or hate them, you have to admit, it would’ve been genius if Maysilee and Haymitch’s Girl™️

Like pure genius

Haymitch’s Girl™️ was killed by Snow, killed by the Capitol; that was all we knew for so long and it could’ve literally been in any way

But we all assume Haymitch’s Girl™️ is some girl from District 12, we never question if she could’ve been someone else, if he had brought his girl with him to the arena

They had been the first star-crossed lovers, the ones nobody knew about

It would’ve been such a good callback, for him and Peeta to have this to bond over, and why he encouraged Peeta with the star-crossed lovers, childhood lovers angle

Because he too, had brought his girl, the girl he loved into the arena

And he had watched as she was picked apart by mutts, mutts who had been designed to kill her and only her; she had been their target

But his girl hadn’t been killed by the games

No, because Snow killed his girl, because the Capitol killed his girl

Why would he change his story? That’s the one that everyone knew, they didn’t need to know the real story

That one was for Maysilee and himself alone
