imagine you’re out with a fling, it was late into the night and you two were hanging out drinking in a random parking lot. the guy you’re with had to have been at least two beer cans down, and you were a can down- the buzzing atmosphere and tension between you two was growing thicker by the second.
his hands fidgeted with yours, teasing and provoking. before much can go on though, red and blue light flashes from the side quickly stopping any endeavors.
and that’s how you ended up in this situation: your apartment neighbor leaning against the passenger seat car door, strikingly handsome in a cop uniform.
“It’s 2am and instead of staying at my apartment, you come trespass and drink ma?” toji rumbles, body camera long turned off as he traces a finger between your lips.
his partner had taken your fling- whatever his name was- to the station to check him, leaving just toji to ‘watch over you’ in case it was a serious situation. maybe it was the alcohol, but you swore just thinking of the fact you two were alone had your face warm.
“jealous?” you mumbled with no malice, eyes staring into his own.
“over some little boy who has you drinking with him in a parking lot?” he tsk’s, lifting your chin and getting a good look at your face. a chuckle escapes his lips. “don’t be an idiot, could take you to my place and treat you like a real lady in the sheets.”
the tension was thicker than what you had with the boy before. toji had a mischievous grin on his face as he watched your intoxicated form process his words.
before anything could happen though, his radio beeped.
‘you’re free to leave officer toji. boys coming back right now.’
and you couldn’t wipe the disappointment off your face.
“my place later, ma.” he chuckles, leaning closer as his lips ghost yours- not enough to touch but enough to leave you wanting more.
well, everybody will know now that you’re a good girl- officer.

isaac was fueled by obsession. the more he gained the more his mental faded, leaving behind a mad man- a man who is just a shell of what he was once before. his creations grew in intensity the more he succeed, leaving scars that ran deep with no way to stitch it back together. no one to glue it closed.
— “just a few more days my love… and soon we can go. get married under the skull tree we carved- watch as my sister is free from such a curse.”
It started small: nights where he would leave the bed colder longer, skipping meals that were supposed to be dates- but then came the days of no contact, no way of knowing he was alive.
yet the question of his loyalty never came up- the answer never changed. he was devoted to the girl who stayed longer than she should have. the girl who sewed together the leather binds that got hammered into the electric chair. the girl who was surprisingly you.
“this is dangerous.” you murmured against Isaac’s lips, hands roaming up his arms and to his hair- fingers tangled into the mess of his curls.
“but she would no longer be dangerous.” isaac whispers back, pulling away from the warmth of your grip. your hands a reminder he was alive, that he wasn’t buried in some sort of dirt hole.
a conversation that always ended the same. reminders of how his sister lived with the curse of being a hyde, how isaac could not be happy unless his sister had gotten everything she wanted. you had grown used to the answer, to the idea that the solution to his problem would not be you. not when the rival is his own flesh and blood- his sister. the monster he watched get created.
the monster you had to stop- but couldn’t bare to.

you didn’t mean to let him get this far. you watched as his greed sickened and the monster that was once his sister became him- the shadow that loomed over him as every experiment became more insane, as his eyes twinkled in excitement at the new risk of death to give life to his sister. but the way he talked about it: the way he kissed your head as he mentioned the latest idea, or when he would pull you by your waist and let his breath fan over your neck as you told him you supported him.
“this is wrong isaac- this would kill him.” you snapped, the blueprints of his creations disregarded onto the desk full of his other maddening ideas.
“i told you not to go through my things.” Isaac snarled back- hostile and aggressive as he snatched the paper from your prying eyes. “it’s a less valuable life for something more, for something the world has never seen.”
“you are justifying murder!”
“if you have such an issue you can leave.”
“Isaac,”
“you heard me. I will not let the… brain of such low level human beings get in the way of happiness between me and francoise.”
his words were sharper than any dagger could leave a mark, no wound felt as painful as the one he had inflicted through his mouth- the same mouth that used to whisper sweet nothings into your ear.
and who were you to argue with him? to undermine the care he put towards his sister, his own flesh and blood?
so those were the last words you spoke to each other.
you found out with everyone else that the love of your life had exploded in a freak accident- leaving behind not only you but his still monster infected sister. you figured his intelligence would take him too far in, and just like you had warned would be his death. how you knew was no surprise to stonehurst- the very individual who had let isaac get this far. so with open arms he allowed you the blessing of knowing the tale, with the same consequence of revealing such a large secret.
“may your afterlife be filled with successful inventions, my love.” you whisper to the rose in your hand- throwing it on top of the grave shaded by the skull tree.
“and may your hell be one of your own creations.”
the rose dried and withered upon impact of the floor, almost as if it cried for help to the melody of your retreating footsteps.
