hey guys ive been kinda drawing today
The mudwings weren’t enough I had to draw more of them too. Go my plant-wearing fish things
A good video that accurately explains why stud is a term used for black lesbians only, not white, not poc, BLACK
I’m not even going to say please. Respect black identities and labels, they are ours for a reason.
Imma need this reblogged by white queer tumblr users since it’s mostly yall who wanna use it or want to know why you or other white people shouldn’t/can’t use the term “stud”
[video description: a tiktok made by @/callmekellin, responding to a comment that reads “what does being black have to do with being a stud …….”
the person in the video is a fem presenting black person in their car. they say “i love that you asked, lemme give you a little history lesson. full disclaimer, no hate to the commenter, i’m just giving everybody a bit of a debrief! now firstly, let’s talk about where the term stud actually comes from.
back in the days of slavery, when people still used to refer to us as animals, black people that were taller were known to be stronger because they could do more work. so down in the south, they started comparing us to horses. that then coined the term[s] studs for men, and stallions for females. like megan thee stallion. it was really big in the south. to compare us to animals.
but enough about the bleach brigade, let’s actually get back into the history. as you know, or if you don’t know, black women were not able to enter the working class until well into the 1960s. before then, there was a small populous of women that were still working, even though they technically were not supposed to.
‘how was it possible?’ these women would be dressing more masculine—using binders in order to help put down their chests, dressing more in a male form—and because of the fact that most bleach bandits believed that we, as black women, were already masculine, they got away with it. thus coining the term, in the black community, “stud.” because all the dudes knew, but she was one of the guys. so what did it matter?
any time the chlorine community would come up to black people and be like “hey! is that a female working!?” the guys would just save her and be like ‘nah, that’s a stud right there.” it was joke to them because they all knew. but as times changed and slang did too, the black community still keeps it close at heart. and yes, it was rooted in racism, but we’re taking it back for ourselves.
so once again, if you’re not a black, masculine lesbian that wants to be called a stud, you’re not a stud. you’re a masculine lesbian. even a butch if you want to. i hope that explained it!” end video description.]
@kneadbees you asked me about what "stud" meant!
I'm only gonna bring this up now because IDK I just thought of it but quick PSA, with how popular early internet aesthetics are getting again, PLEASE remember to include seizure warnings when applicable. This is extremely important.
As someone who grew up in the early eye-strain geocities days of the internet where blinkies, blingees, cranked bright contrast/saturation, and stamps/flashing avatars were EVERYWHERE, just keep in mind how incredibly unsafe it was back then for those of us with epilepsy.
I distinctly remember there being SO FEW websites that were safe for me to use/interact with because of that, and don't even get me started on errors and pop-ups. You can have all the fun you want bringing back the aesthetics that you enjoy, but please don't bring back all the rampant ableism from that era along with it. Ok quick PSA done :]
when you get crazy enough about The Character you'd think the situations you imagine them in would get more elaborate and lore intensive. but no. imagining my wizard pacing around huffily being slightly peeved at a mild inconvenience. I don’t even know what the inconvenience IS. and it's giving me enough joy to power a city for a month
you understand this post more than anyone else
i am Thinkimg . about the Character. and listening to a Song. i a m sure this will not have repercussions
Im so glad so many people are liking my brooke post. Most personal oc i'm scared to post
It is so ridiculously easy to gain a reputation for being competent by just reading signs.
This is not metaphorical. I mean actual, literal pieces of paper/plastic/metal/whatever explicitly erected to inform the public.
“How did you know this was the right trail?” I read the sign.
“Wow, how did you know what that flower is?” There’s a SIGN.
“How did you know we needed to use the side door?” THERE IS A SIGN POSTED ON THE FRONT DOOR.
Just…why are we having such different experiences of the world? People can read. I KNOW they can read. There’s nothing wrong with their vision.
Just. READ. THE. GOD. DAMN. SIGN.

can you show us some of your ocs? :o
well of course! i assume you mean the ones i frequently tag things with, so ill show those 5 :]
these guys are also all on artfight, for anyone curious!
im not very good at just going on a huge ramble on tumblr but to put it simply,
these guys are all transformers ocs! they reside in my friends tf au/continuity. smiley [he/him, nonbinary] and epitome [they/he, demigirl] are the parental/mentor figures of asterisk [he/it, agender]. And then asterisk is the mentor of timeout [he/him, transfem] and digit [she/they, nonbinary].
epi and smiley are lovers. i like to make my friends cry with them though because i only know how to reliably write tragedy ... and risk is sort of an adopted son. they have a few strays they took in, asterisk is the eldest of them. they have a few daughters i havent shown here as well though,,
risk and timeout are racers, and digit is a journalist! so those three are very close. risk took them both in because they reminded him a lot of himself when he was younger.
risk himself is my tfsona, if youre my friend on discord [all mutuals are welcome to ask for this btw] youd know hes been my pfp for most of the last year. big fan of that idiot.
I WISH I COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT ELSE TO SAY BUT IM REALLY BAD AT TALKING ABOUT THEM especially since theyre very much collaborative with a couple friends so its a lot of [well this persons oc did this as well with them] and its a bit hard to disconnect them from that.
if anyone has questions though i can absolutely answer those !
ive wanted to make a proper new iteration on my harpies for a bit but i couldnt really make up my mind if i wanted them to be quadruped like the basilisks, but then i decided they shall be so, but it took some bit to figure out in what way because i wanted their silhouette to read a lot smaller/upright. but NEOW i think i figured out something i like...
An Update on Rausliers
decided a while ago that Rausliers weren't quite working for me, so I've changed some stuff about their design to better suit my ideas for them, as well as making them easier to draw (for me lol).
Help him up wtf!!!!!
frenemies ?
Dumpling?
Some speculative evolution bird designs I illustrated a while back for a fantasy book.
My take on Na'vi redesign
Plus some characters. Jake was the hardest to draw as I wanted to keep his human features and now he looks cursed but ehatever
