What Marina wears while on Minbar.

I have a good reason why that hair and makeup is so perfect. One day a young Minbari clothier was attending Marina while she dressed and watched her braid her hair and put some of it up and then put on her make up. The clothier was absolutely fascinated by this peculiar ritual, as Minbari didn’t have hair to coif and didn’t put makeup on. She asked Marina a million questions about it. Marina welcomed the attention and explained the best she could. At first, the clothier, Varya, just ran her long clever fingers through Marina’s massive amount of hair. Marina taught her about brush and combing and washing, about weave and extensions and dye. She then taught Varya about the various cosmetics she wore and why and how to apply them.

Varya was of the Religious caste and believed adornments were of great importance and sanctity and was convinced that Marina’s acts of bathing and vanity were holy rituals, whether Marina knew it or not.

Well Varya eventually convinced her Clan leaders to let her learn more and she got herself to an Earth colony where she went to Beauty School where she learned not only about human hair and skin, she learned about several alien races, including Centauri, one of her favorites. She also learned a lot about alien fabrics and fashions.

Eventually she returned to Minbar during a semester break and used what she had learned thus far on a very patient Marina and it ended up in a daily ritual of Varya coiffing and painting Marina, until Varya had to return to school.

And some facts

You may have noticed her hair’s blue? Yeah, she dyes it various shades of blue. And there’s a lot of it. And actually, a lot of it is fake.

She has really long hands. Like really long. Very long very elegant and very delicate looking.

She once met Citizen G’Kar in a garden on Babylon 5 during her visit there. They spoke for many hours on every topic, but never exchanged names and neither knows who the other is.

When using her powers at will, she sings the quaker’s hymn to help her focus. Although in her trance like state, she usually forgets the words and sings of key.

When Marina left her family, she had a young brother, only 4 years old. She hasn’t seen him since.
