There are 12 houses that are present as there are 12 signs in the zodiac wheel. A house in astrology represents the area in which a sign and a planet journeys in. To have an accurate calculation of the natal chart, one must provide their date and time of birth along with their birthplace. This will determine the exact position of the planets and the division of the houses. The houses are calculated in different house systems (i.e., Placidus, Sidereal, Whole Sign etc.) and are classified by:
Quadrants (division by ASC-IC, IC-DC, DC-MC, and MC-ASC)
The houses are divisions of the zodiac wheel during the date and time of a horoscope in question. Modern astrologers mostly use the Placidus, Whole Sign and Sidereal systems and rely on Western astrology practices for the most part in reading a chart.
