I wonder who was right when talking about Timelord fertility after the whatever thing went off.
Simply because the Rani and the Doctor used different words to describe it. The Rani said sterile which means that they canāt have kids at all like there is a zero percent chance of them being able to produce offspring. The Doctor, however said infertile, which sometimes people get confused with sterile, but they donāt mean the same thing. Being infertile means that you can still produce offspring but without a great chance. So someone who is infertile might never have children or might have them given their chances are a non zero number. For example my mother is technically infertile, and getting and staying pregnant is difficult for her but she was still somehow able to have both me and my younger sister.
So is it the writers not knowing the difference, or do they know and are making it so thereās a chance the Doctor/time lords can produce offspring in the future? Iām super confused and am probably reading too far into the words used, but genuinely it has me wondering what was meant. ALSO i feel like itās a topic that should be explored more thoroughly, like itās a subject that is a source of pain for the Doctor like the death of their people and their role in it, being alone, being unable to freely express their emotions and feelings towards peopleā¦itās one more thing that gives the Doctor trauma that they should explore. And hopefully not in a shallow way. They somewhat touched on it at the end of the episode with him talking to Poppy, and I almost cried but like I hope it is talked about more especially when so many people are infertile and struggling with it. It needs to be more awareness around the topic that shows understanding and empathy rather than just using it to give the Doctor more trauma.
