I have been too nonchalant with my eating, as when I lived with my mother, no one cared what I ate. Now that I am with my aunt, she is threatening to weigh me weekly to make sure that I am a good weight. Here are some tricks and tips from me to you for how to avoid suspicion.
***IF YOU ARE BELOW A HEALTHY BMI, YOU SHOULD NOT CONTINUE TO FAST, AND SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR***
1.) Stay out a lot. Go to a friend’s. Walk to your grandma’s. Have a prepared speech of “I ate [food] already over there”. If you don’t know what you ate, they will get suspicious, so make sure to have something prepared. Also, the walking helps to lose weight.
2.) Acid Reflux is a good excuse not to eat. If you have to take medicine, it can be a pretty common side effect to feel like something is stuck in your throat, which will constantly make you feel like you need to throw up, and will make eating difficult. This is always an easy, good excuse for not wanting to eat.
3.) If they are out of the house for periods at a time, dirty dishes with leftovers and put them in the sink, put ketchup on them etc. to make it genuinely look like you already ate something, and a lot of something.
4.) When you have to eat in front of them, make sure it is low-calorie foods, like vegetables. If you can, make it seem like you are eating by pushing the food around the plate and bringing the utensil to your mouth, and then dump it when enough time has passed that you should have reasonably finished the meal.
5.) If you are supposed to be getting lunches at school, and your family members can keep track of that, buy lunch anyway, and give it to someone, or pitch it.
6.) Make it look like you are snacking on something by eating a bowl of plain lettuce or celery.
7.) Fast whenever you can, whenever they aren’t forcing you to eat.
And of course, as always, stay safe. These are tips to get around overbearing family members who falsely think you are underweight simply because you weigh less than them. Do not continue to fast if you feel light-headed, nauseated, dizzy, drowsy, can feel your heart in your chest, have a higher or lower heartbeat than regular, have chest pains or cramps, or persisting muscle cramps outside of the stomach area. Drink lots of water, and stay safe.
