Summary:

Weird things keep happening in Wayne and Eddie’s new place. Fortunately Dustin knows someone that can help. Unfortunately that someone is the king of campus, Steve Harrington.

Eddie doesn’t know who the bigger skeptic is— Steve the non-believer or Eddie the doubter-of-Steve’s-ability to help at all.

One of my fav steddie fic concepts is Eddie makes a bet with his friends (either his idea or theirs) that he can get popular, rich, king Steve to fall for him, just to break his heart (as revenge or just to knock him down a peg)

Steve is recovering from the upside down shit, losing his friends, losing his girlfriend, and losing his social status. So, when Eddie starts being nice to him and stuff he thinks, “wow, someone actually likes me for me.” Only to overhear Eddie talking to his friends about it saying, “I don’t actually give a shit about him” or “it’s just for the bet” (even when Eddie knows he’s lying, he totally accidentally fell head over heels for Steve’s endearing loserism)

So then Steve breaks things off and Eddie has to find a way to fix things before graduation because he doesn’t know that Steve didn’t get accepted anywhere. Eddie is convinced that if he doesn’t fix things by then, then he will never see Steve again after graduation.

Right now my thoughts are with the family of Melissa Hortman, a democrat from Minnesota who was assassinated along with her husband and her dog in the dead of night. Senator Mike Lee (from Utah) made a joke about it. There was no moment of silence, no national response. MAGA extremism kills people.

Here’s a picture of her and her dog. Sometimes it’s hard to really conceptualize these things without faces to go with the names. I wonder why no major news outlets have focused on this story, or posted this photo of her with her golden retriever. Her dog looks just like mine. My heart is shattered every time I look at this.

Gilbert was a service dog dropout, who flunked out because he was “too friendly.” The Hortmans, of course, were thrilled to officially adopt him. He was the second retriever the Hortmans fostered and trained through Helping Paws. Their other foster dog, Minnie, was successfully placed as a veteran’s service dog. Melissa did so much for Minnesota, and I’m so angry that her murder was mocked by Republican legislators while the assassination of a hateful podcaster who rubbed shoulders with white nationalists and Nazis somehow receives more outrage. Trump never even reached out to Walz to express condolences for Melissa. He refused to attend her funeral. Now he wants to give Charlie Kirk The Presidential Medal of Freedom. I’m so fucking angry about it.

So like… wtf was that?

The last two episodes were Interesting but the lead up was so boring. It felt like they completely lost who the characters were. How tf did Guillermo get beaten by Collin? He’s a vanhelsing. WHAT the fuck was that crush Nandor had on the guide??? That come from no where. Like okay I love nandermo but I was never expecting it to be canon but to have that weird forced crush all this season?? Felt like a slap.

Friendships as a teenager: we used to talk 5 hours every night now it’s down to 3… are we still friends 🤔? I wonder if they don’t like me anymore

Friendships as an adult: omg I’ve finally cleared up 20 minutes of my schedule to talk to my friend I haven’t spoken to in 4 months #bffs #we will find eachother in every life

I’m still so taken aback by people in the notes who claimed you need to be talking to people weekly or even daily to consider them your friend. how many people do you know? As an adult I feel like talking every day is sustainable with one person maybe 2 or 3 if your circumstances somehow are really conveniently aligned. yeah there’s people I talk to often there’s also people I don’t talk to for 6 months because there’s no way we’ll be able to coordinate time and energy and I still consider them my friends because this is real life and there isn’t a stardew valley esque hearts system based off of how many interactions we had this month

just fyi by the time youre in your 30s, most of the people you would call to help you cover up a murder are the people you text about twice a year. it's specifically because you can maintain the relationship on two texts a year that they are your closest friends. the reason everyone's interpersonal relationships are so unstable in your teens is because everyone's "best friends" are almost entirely circumstantial. you won't actually know which of those people are in for the long haul until the relationships have been stress tested by distance, conflict and silence.
