Roommates
Silence fell, as Gillain drove. She debated turning the radio on but declined it after a quick glance at her roommate’s face.
“I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say that it’s your family, someone’s hurt really bad and you have no idea how or what you’re going to do when you have to do something.”
“… It does have to do with family, but… it’s not because they’re hurt.” Willow explained briefly. She stared out the window, her green eyes scanning the horizon intently.
While she remained unconvinced, Gillain dropped the subject as they pulled up to the airport, “Call me if you need anything?”
“… Yeah. I will. Bye Gillian.” Willow said as she got out of the car, grabbed her luggage, and headed off into the airport.
After about a week, Willow still hadn’t returned to the UK and had only called Gillian to let her know she had gotten to the states safely and was staying with a “friend.”
The news was on in the flat, covering some big court case in the US. It was the people against a car manufacturer, suspected of not recalling a car model when they knew that there were inferior airbags in the cars that supposedly led to multiple deaths.
Currently the prosecutor was focusing on the death of one man, claiming he died because of the airbag itself. To help strengthen the case, the prosecutor called up one of their witnesses, one Willow Maheswaran West.
“What the fuck?” Gillain watched carefully before googling the case, “Oh fucking hell. ”
Fio paused in his reading to look at her, “What’s up? ”
“That. ” She pointed at the television before picking up her phone and dialing Willow.
Willow had just gotten out of the court room when she heard her phone ring. She checked it and saw that it was Gillian; after a moment of hesitation, she answered, “… Hey.”
“Hey.” Her voice was softer than normal, “Everything OK on your end of things?
“I guess you heard about the trial then? Yeah, it’s okay. Just busy. I’m… I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I just didn’t know how to.” Willow said, clutching the phone tightly.
"Hun, if you didn't want to tell me that's up to you. It's a personal topic after all. "
