AFTERNOON DELIGHT by Bob McCann a.k.a. Artist No.42. World War II through the 1950′s was the era of the Pin Up Girl and my Grandfather who served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater had a rather large collection and when I got old enough he showed them to me. They weren’t pornography, that didn’t come a long until later. Pin Up Girls weren’t even photographs but works of art, usually paintings done by skilled artists using incredibly beautiful models making each Pin Up unique. The final Pin Up was then sold on a card about the size of a post card. This beauty here hanging out in front of the Malt Shop is directly inspired by the “Memphis Belle” Pin Up that was part of the famous B-17′s insignia and my love for 1950′s era cars and pay homage to two songs in the process. “Afternoon Delight” by Starland Vocal Band and “Burgers and Fries and Cherry Pies” by Charlie Pride. Inspired by a story told to me by a black friend of mine about one time when he went to a Black Lives Matter really not to take part but “just to see what all the fuss was about”. He went on to tell me about how people that were supposed to be there for a common purpose somehow turned on each other and a huge street fight broke out. “Best part was.” he told me “The only nigga’s there were me and my cousin and we just stood there watching this happen.”

BACK TO MAKING FUN OF PEOPLE THIS WEEK!!!

Trump once said of his daughter Ivanka “If she weren’t my daughter I’d date her.” After Trump gets into Office Melania wants to continue living in NYC. Now with Ivanka taking center stage more and more while Melania has seem to all but disappear it does make one wonder.

Earlier this week Melania finally appeared in public but fuck it. I’ve put this comic off once already and the thought of it going out is giving me far to much joy.

This is not the comic I had planned on releasing today but more on that matter will be explained next week. However as they say “The show MUST go on” and in that spirit “This week MUST have a comic.” One day when I was walking downtown I came across one of those crazy anti-science street Preachers going on about how no human has the right to question God or the way of things and that such “unknowable secrets” are not for us “imperfect beings” to learn and that we needed to tame our “blasphemous curiosity.”  “This is the reasons your Elders shun you and why God has abandoned you!” he declared at loud volumes but it was when he said that we are to God like goldfish are to us. “So we’re God’s goldfish?” I asked. “Yes.” he boldly states “Who do you think commands the earth to provide food for us to eat?”

I had a good laugh at that which raised his ire but it was just after that the cops came and took him back to the loony bin.

This week had some unforeseen things take place that were out of my control and as a result the comic I had intended to post this Saturday didn’t get done in time. So I decided to go with an older one and since I used this one for the pages banner pic I thought perhaps I’d post it so y’all can see it in it’s full glory. Done back when the Democrats shut down the Government in early 2018 after DACA failed to pass. Even though in the end it didn’t amount to anything it did make for some good humor for a few days. Yeah I’m aware that its old news and in no way relevant now but you gotta admit I did a fucken good job on that Capitol Building though. -Bob

This came to mind after I watch an interview Piers Morgan had with Donald Trump. Never have I seen such a look of ever increasing agony on an interviewers face like I saw on his with every cut back to him and it made me wonder how reporters react today when told they have an interview with the President. -Bob

I just can’t help but think that this is what people that believe they actually need to get consent to take care of their children would say when facing charges of neglect.                     -Bob
