A Meeting of Lost Friends
Kassim didn’t quite appreciate being followed after, nor being grabbed and yelled at. He recalled pep talks he received regularly from Zaynab. Words about how Alibaba didn’t mean to leave didn’t seem to phase him much as it all the variations of emotions pricked at him then. Guilt, anger, sadness and remorse. All the components of a broken heart were there, weren’t they?
He didn’t directly stare back at Alibaba, sifting through different feelings that he’d grown accustomed to to those which had not been there in years. This was just like him. To go and yell at people when they started to stray. Somehow he always knew what to say, really. Even if he himself didn’t take it all into account, he knew that the blond would almost always be right.
Although, he quickly noticed the onlookers to this little dispute. Talk about him was the last thing he needed — especially gossip that would somehow get screwed up down the line. He hesitated a moment before placing his hands on Alibaba’s shoulders, slightly pushing him away. He spoke in a low, hushed voice.
”Not… Not here, alright?” He stole a quick second glance to those that stared before looking back. “Let’s just go back to my place and.. we’ll talk about it there.” A sense of nervousness and anxiousness was beginning to envelop him, causing his hands to shake. God, he was bad at this. He was never the composed one, it was always Alibaba.
Carefully, he took his former friend’s wrist, not daring to cross that line by hold his hand. He pulled him along, walking at a slightly rushed pace.
Kassim was touching his arm. He didn't know why that felt so weird, but it did, and it was making him feel both confused and flustered. He allowed the change of location, given that he didn't like all the weird staring, but at the same time, he didn't understand why his heart felt so funny? Perhaps it was all the time they had spent away from one another, and Alibaba had merely been missing his childhood companion a little more than he should have.
"Yeah fine," he answered and followed behind quickly, his heart beating faster than the footsteps he was taking. It had been so long since he had seen Kassim's house. Where did he live? Had he moved? The questions piled up on one another as they moved in the direction of what seemed to be the slums, although Alibaba couldn't tell for certain, as so much has changed in such little time.
If only Kassim didn't hold a grudge. Then they could go back to being friends and have a good time like they used to, playing around and laughing together and indulging in the beauty of their friendship like old times. But their youths had been taken from them before they had the chance to grow up, and as fate would have it, they were destined to alternate between friend and foe.
Alibaba kept his mouth shut for once as they wandered the winding paths of Balbadd, nearly hand-in-hand, with the sounds of miscellaneous chit chat to serve as the only sound to penetrate the silence that hung between them.

"Alibaba! It is good to see you. Is there a reason behind your visit?"
"Ah, you're Lady Scheherazade, right?" He queried, obviously sucking up to her with a smile drawn on his lips. "Yeah, I was coming to train as a Gladiator..."

When she heard someone calling out her name she turned her head before seeing the blond boy. “Alibaba - san?” She questioned before she turned herself completely and a smile formed on her face. It was him. “I have been alright.” She explained to him with a nod. “How have you been?” She questioned as she tilted her head a bit.
Oh, how he had missed her voice. So soft and sweet- the familiarity of her tone brought soft flutters to his heart. Nervously, he scratched the back of his head whilst a smirk of elation rounded upwards on his lips. "That's good. I've been all right!" He answered and shifted his focus elsewhere. Why was he so anxious at a time like this? "I've been working on my training a lot. I guess you can say I've gotten better..."
The fanalis rushed towards the blonde prince and hugged him tightly, folding her arms around him. She had missed him so in the time they had been apart. “It’s been a while yes!”; she smiled back to him as she withdrew slightly. “But now I’m back! “
His warmth. His familiar scent. Everything Alibaba. She didn’t feel complete away from him. Worrying over how he was doing, thinking about him.
"I’m ok. It’s been a long journey, so I’m a bit tired. But everything is fine now!"
The tiny frame ran into his chest and cradled him in her arms; his face turned deep red at the sign of affection given to him by Morgiana. In return, he offered a smile down at her and parted his lips to speak, albeit he was still somewhat flustered by the sudden gesture. She still smelled the same as he remembered and continued to give off a familiar vibe of strength.
"That's good! Things haven't really been the same without you!" He informed the girl, hoping that he would be able to hear about her travels and learn about her experiences, whilst reviving their friendship that had been put on hold for several months as they journeyed in opposite directions.
"So how was it?" He questioned in regards to her adventure.
A Meeting of Lost Friends
His face hardened in displeasure towards the casual attitude presented to him. How long was it since he’d last seen Alibaba? Since he left him here? Was he actually expected to just.. to just take that? No, he was mad at him without a doubt. Kassim certainly wasn’t appreciative of being stranded like he was all those years ago. This time, there was no act or show to put on. He didn’t need anything from him.. not anymore.
And even though he was mad towards all that, he couldn’t find it in his heart to hate that idiot. Even after all he put him through, it was impossible. If there wasn’t the chance of being arrested for it, he would go up and punch him across the face. He was honestly saddened, heartbroken and distanced. He wanted to know why he was left behind the way he was — why he was just stranded and expected to be happy about it.
Without Alibaba, the days had been fuzzy and meaningless. It was the same feeling he had when he left to go be a high and mighty prince of Balbadd. Why couldn’t he understand his friend? Were they even friends anymore? It was.. hard to tell. While that blond stood in front of him, he was treated like a friend, but he didn’t know if he shared that feeling.
”Why are you back here? To cut the knife in deeper? Thanks, but I’m good enough without you around.”
He began to storm off down the street, not really being able to bear just seeing him, let alone speaking. It brought back too many painful memories, and it actually… made him a bit happier than he should be. Why was he slamming a door in the face that happiness? He just really didn’t know what to do in the unfamiliarity of it all.
A libaba didn't know what he as expecting. Knowing Kassim's anger, there was no way in hell he'd be happy with the prince for having abandoned him. And, just as expected, he pivoted on his heel and stormed off in the opposite direction, after having first yelled about being betrayed. But that was a load of nonsense in the blond's book; he didn't intentionally want to hurt his childhood friend, nor did he hold any grudges, even though Kassim was equally to blame, but for different reason.
"Hey--" Alibaba called out, after chasing Kassim down and taking him by the arm. Strangers nearby watched the scene play out- some were gossiping while others were merely gaping in awe over the fact that two boys were physically arguing in the midst of the street. But naturally, Alibaba brushed them off. He didn't care about anyone else in the world right now, aside from Kassim. Most of all, he didn't want Kassim to continue thinking poorly of him or looking down on him for his own conscious decisions and mistakes.
"Just what is that about?" He pleaded. "Don't give me that face! Don't act like you're so innocent all the time! I know I left, and I'm sorry for that! But... stop pretending like you went to such great lengths to get me back!" Every word that left his lips sounded more desperate than before; this hurt- this entire conversation was leaving more wounds at his heart. But he didn't know what else to say; all he wanted was for the to make up, but there was too much distance now for that to happen.
All the screaming caused his throat to ache; by this point, his eyes were swollen with tears, and he didn't bother wiping them away. Instead he clung to the fabric on Kassim's clothing and prayed silently that the conversation would be over soon- that there would be no more fighting and that they could go back to the friendship they harboured before.
But that was just too much to ask, right?

A small grin rounded up on his lips whilst his cheeks became painted with a blush. He had forgotten just how beautiful Morgiana was in the time they were away from one another. "Oh, hey, Morgiana!" He greeted warmly. "It's been a while. How have you been?"
Third prince of Balbadd, Alibaba Saluja
Happy birthday Usagi!
Reunion
A light, understanding nod accompanied Alibaba as she was told he had only recently returned. It made a bit more sense now that Kougyoku had not run into him earlier. However, she almost wished she had. At the question to what was happening in her own life, it was too much for her to talk about, and it was constantly bugging her thoughts. Everything with Kouen’s plans with her half-siblings had become a bit cumbersome for her, hence her presence in Sindria. A party would do her good, and she was hoping to drown her sorrows in wine.
But now that he was here, it caused her to relax a bit. She was certainly important to him, and Kougyoku highly respected him. Her first real friend. That thought settled her troubled mind. Spending idle time with him was good for her, and fully welcome. Still, the glass of wine before her was finding its way to her more than she noticed, and the princess certainly couldn’t hold her own too well, and two glasses would have her drunken and speaking slurred.
”Life has been rather hectic, honestly.” She rubbed her temple, a sigh passing her lips. “All of these politics are going to make my head burst, you know?” The girl reached over to her own cup with both hands, taking a sip of it, but it remained held in front of her. “Sindria helps me to get my minds off things. It’s always so lively.”
He beamed at his acquaintance; she sure did glow under the light of the moon- or was he simply that drunk already? He raised his glass to his lips once more and swallowed down a fairly large gulp before his lips rounded upwards into a warmer smile whilst he opened his mouth to speak, albeit slightly slurred. "Oh, really? It's been kinda hectic around here too, y'know? But I hope I can leave soon. I want to travel to the Reim Empire!" He told her, then followed his statements by taking more of the wine in; it had quite the peculiar taste, but he liked it. Things sure were different in Sindria! It took some getting used to, despite how he'd been in the kingdom for a long while.
A loud burst of music erupted from the background, taking Alibaba by surprise as a miscellaneous dancer bumped into the back of his chair. He leant forward, knocking the table, but was too drunken to be upset. Rather, he let out a light-hearted laugh as he regained his position in his seat. He cast his exhausted hues towards the girl and mused, "Geeze, there sure are a lot of people out here tonight... Sinbad's really good at hosting parties, I guess...!"
But he could determine from the way she rubbed her temple that she seemed annoyed. He wondered if she wanted to go elsewhere to chat? But surely she wouldn't be comfortable leaving Ka Koubun behind, yes? Alibaba had never seen them separated even once.
A Meeting of Lost Friends
The days had begun to mesh into one big blur. Or had they already? Could he really ever tell? Sigh. Apparently not. Nothing felt the same in this place. Nostalgia would often stab at his heart mercilessly, and every scene felt out of order. Had it been a year? Or was it two? Either way, he still found himself getting lost in the city on quite a few occasions, as he was still used to taking back alleys or hidden routes to get to his location. But now.. It was all organized for one’s liking, in square and orderly lots.
He was desperate to hold on to the memories of the past, refusing to let go and accepting what was around him now. Kou had taken control over the Kingdom of Balbadd, and now was reduced to nothing but territory for the empire. Everyone was stripped of what they once had, and given everything back in equal amounts. People were guaranteed clothing, food and a home no matter what class you were from. His friend Zaynab enjoyed the idea, and was happy with Hassan and her son. Surely, he should be happy too, right? Still.. indifference on it all was still settled inside him after such an extensive period of time.
The average routine for Kassim went the same as everyone else’s. Wake up, go to work, get paid, go home. Maybe an occasional visit to his friend’s home or a stop at the pub would be placed in, but not often. Everything was just a simple schedule, nothing more, nothing less. Few words left his mouth these days. Maybe he would express a cheerful greeting, or tell a new worker how to go about helping at the docks, but rarely more. Not much left his thoughts, and even when Zaynab may ask, it was easy to brush her off.
Was it such a bad life? Well, when his old childhood friend continued to plague his thoughts, it could be. Alibaba had simply left him here, escaping from this place with that wretched Sinbad, leaving him here behind. It made him furious, yet remorseful all the same. He often thought he would see his friend among the crowd, but a simple blink would bring him back to his senses. What was wrong with him?
A small ‘thank you’ was muttered from under his breath as the captain of a docking ship handed him some of that paper currency everyone used. The cash was stuffed into his bag before Kassim decided he be on his way back home. After all, with the sun beginning to set, walking home in the dark would appear suspicious to those patrolling the streets at night.
A glimpse of that golden blond hair was caught of the corner of his eye as he passed into the city. Aureolin eyes turned to dismiss the sight as a hallucination, but found himself distraught to find that it didn’t go away. That color stayed, and those familiar golden hues connected with his. Were his illusions beginning to become more vivid? His feet were frozen in place, and the few people that passed by weren’t even noticed by him. His throat went dry, shoulders becoming tense and eyes widened. He hadn’t said the words in so long, he’d almost forgotten how to say them.
”Alibaba?”
Anonymous faces passed by as his feet trudged against the side walk, coated with layers of various stones and rubble. The idle chit chat of miscellaneous strangers passed his ears, and yet he only focused on the road ahead: the road home; the road that would surely lead him in the direction of his long-time friend, Kassim, who would undoubtedly be mad for being left behind without further warning. And yet, Alibaba didn't care if he would be yelled at or scolded; he only wanted a tender embrace that would remind him of the old days of his youth, when times were simpler and when the only thing he had to worry about was losing a game with the other children of the slums.
Lately, he was exhausted with business in Sindria. Although he had his friends to serve as entertainment, there were days his mind was clouded with Kassim alone, which made everything harder and resulted in an aching heart. If only he had stayed behind, he sometimes found himself thinking, but soon would recover from the pits of depression to remind himself of Sharkan and Hakuryuu and Sinbad, among all the other companions he had made in the kingdom of Sindria; but sometimes, he found himself needing a break and that was precisely why he took the boat back to Balbadd for a short stay.
Perhaps it wasn't the best of ideas.
The further he walked, the more heartbroken he felt; all the scenery only caused his adolescent memories to play in the back of his mind like a movie. The ghost of his past self seemed to dance along the streets as if he were really there- like something the current Alibaba could reach out and touch. He saw a tiny Kassim, too-- a happier Kassim, one that bore a bright smile on his face whilst the lights still gleamed in his eyes like the fire of a fuse about to blow with energy.
That Kassim didn't seem to be there anymore these days.
Alibaba continued to stroll amid the streets, albeit solemnly, until a blur of dark dreadlocks passed his peripheral vision. He stopped in his tracks, only to meet with familiar golden hues that locked firmly in his own. There he was! There was his childhood friend, standing before him like a statue- was this a dream? A trick of his mind? The thump! thump! of his heart simply would not calm down; he fought back all urges to run in for a hug.
A smile- though nervous in nature- drew up on his lips as he scratched the back of his neck, while his cheeks were painted in a light crimson colour. An anxious chuckle left his lips in the meantime.
"Oh, hey Kassim! Long time, no see, huh?" He started, almost expecting to get hit.
"I’ve been in front of you this whole time"
gentle-strength started following you.
"Oh, hey Morgiana. Long time, no see," he greeted with a smile. "How have you been?"
Reunion
A voice alerted her, and she directed her attention to where it came from. If it wasn’t directed towards her, she most likely would have ignored it, as many people who were speaking loudly with their friends. Hence why she and Ka Koubun had broken away from the crowd so they may have their own idle conversation politely. But now she turned her gaze towards where the voice came from, and she processed who it was carefully. A smile spread across her face.
”Alibaba!” she exclaimed, popping out of her seat and up to her feet. Kougyoku was about to bow to him, but froze in place. Do friends bow to each other? Or was that considered strange? There wasn’t much time to dwell on it, however, as the blond took his own seat next to her, but also knocked over a cup of wine. After a moment, she turned to Ka Koubun, asking him to retrieve something to clean up the mess, in which the assistant quickly hurried off. Then, she returned her attention to Alibaba.
”It’s so nice to see you again! I was not aware you had returned to Sindria after your time in Reim. When did you get back?” Her tone was calm, yet cheerful nonetheless. However, she was also a bit tired as well after all the commotion of the party and it’s festivities.
It had been a while since he had last seen that smile of hers, and he had to say he didn't know what he was missing until he got the chance to see it again. He smirked slightly in reply and cupped his slender fingers around one of the nearby cups filled with wine and put it up against his lips. He was really too tired to care whom it belonged to, and of course, sanitation never mattered much to him when it came to food and alcohol. He then cast his orange-tinted optics in her direction to answer her previous inquiry.
"Ah, just a while ago actually," he answered and rested his hand comfortably on the back of his neck. A soft giggle escaped his lips as he did so. "What about you? How have been lately?" --He took another sip of the drink before feeling his head start to spin. Drinking at this hour, especially when he was so exhausted, was likely to be a bad idea, but he was beyond caring about his well-being at this hour. After all, everyone else seemed to be in the party mood, and although he had initially wanted to escape and get some rest, now that he was with his new friend Kougyoku, he felt a little more awake.
